Personally, I thought Emerald was the tougher of the two. Aire Tam storm can rape you if you don't take it into consideration materia-wise.

Ruby. Emerald can be hellish attack wise but if you go to the battle prepared then you'll be fine. Ruby is just time consuming and eventually you run out of options.

Ruby was harder, due to the fact you could only do it with 1 character. If you could use a full party for ruby weapon, then emerald would probably be harder.

Ruby is insanely easy to beat. Hit him with Hades summon and he freezes for a few turns and can't do **** to your party. You can just wail on him until he dies, as long as you keep smacking him with Hades every now and then.

You can have a full party for Ruby, just don't kill his arms. Emerald was harder then Ruby since he could wipe you in one attack or remove lots of mp which was annoying. On Ruby you could just use one char heal/megalixir one cast mbarrier or something and the last one use master summon or knights. No prob there...

Ruby gave me more problems the first time I beat them on my own. Mostly because I couldn't think of a way to counter fighting alone thanks to Whirlsand at first. Never tried fighting Emerald without the underwater materia though, but I bet there are strategies out there that could easily kill it that fast besides the Mime, KotR, etc setup everyone knows.

Max attack/strength and lots of counter materia rapes Emerald/Ruby. Multiple counter materia often results in multiple counters, and with 16 mastered counter materia on one or two characters with max attack you can deal out damage more quickly and effectively that KOTR. I believe linking HP-Absorb to one of your counters works too.

ruby weapon is easy, use quadra magic kotr, and also have wsummon, kotr hp absorb, kotr mp absorb. and you can have all 3 characters alive if you do it right.kill him once, and count how many times you casted kotr, then reset. on the second try, before you hit the number(however many it may be) cast w-summon, phoenix, then kotr for the kill.......and emerald weapon is WAY easy.
