Obviously the main character's are always going to be first choice. but garnet has offence and defence qualities, freya with redmage/dragoon looks and abilities will get you out of many a scrape plus what a combo both IX.

Squall, Cloud, Tidus, and Basch- b/c of the unlimited power of all of them

or

Yuna, rikku (both from ffX-2),Rinoa, and Tifa- just to have a look at a lot of hot and powerful characters

Aeris should always be in any FF best party , her healing power is un-match and an omfg level4 limitbreak
the rest should be crazy dmg dealer . Cloud , Squall , Barret , Zell , Tifa , Rinoa , Irvine any combination 3 of them would be fine .
My fav party would be Aeris , Cloud , Squall , Tifa

My party would be Aeris, Red, Cloud and Vivi (1 healing, 1 magic, 1 power, 1 that does a bit of everything )

Selphie for her Slot limit break, Vivi for backrow magic casting(plus he can increase his magic power without wasting MP)Cloud and squall for DAMAGE

i'd bet on the main characters from those three FFs plus Aerith. JMO.

Tifa,Zell,Zidane and Eiko.I need someone to heal me and Eiko is the best.So and her summons.They've always saved,or at least most of the times I was about to die.

Seeing as FF7 holds the most flexible system I'd have to go with:

Vincent

Cloud

Cid

Barret

Barret and Vincent attck from back row, suffering no offensive penalty but greater defence (with healing and support magic and death penalty which only increases in fire power and catastrophe mimicked over and over is deadly) tank cloud and cid with protect shell and regen (charging omnislash and highwind) and beat the hell out of anyone foolish enough to oppose you. Its a nigh on perfect strategy.

you could also go into giving barret and vincent the weapon materia combo -

added effect = hades

really kill off the competition

elemental = kjata

absorb fire ice lighting earth

My party would be:

Cloud

Tifa

Squall

Auron

All close combatants that can deal massive damage, and also are resonable good with magic.

Hmm, that is a tough one to choose.

I'd say it would have to be Eiko for white magic and summons, she is a far better mage than dagger because she has full-life, dispel, esuna and Holy, four grand magics that Dagger never gets!

The mage of course would have to be Vivi...

And I always have two hard hitters so they would be either Cloud or Steiner or Squall... Not really many characters to choose from, most of them suck!
