The FF VIII Ending...

It could have been better.

Instead of Squall and Rinoa in the very last moment and only moments of the other characters being shown. D:

I liked it...it gives you a sense of character accomplishment but with enough left over to daydream about what happens next.

It was good, but they should have made it longer, more detailed toward what the characters were going to do after the game.
It ended like how FFVI dropped off - making you wonder.

FF VI has a horrible ending. At least in VIII they show Squall smile and then he and Rinoa kiss, loved that. But I always imagined that what happened next was that Squall became headmaster and he and Rinoa had kids and they dispatched more SeeD...yada yada.

FFVI didn't have a bad ending....It was just short.
They all left for their own lives (Celes and Locke went together, of course)

I guess...I dunno. When I play an RPG for so long and get used to the characters and the story ande then the ending is sub-par it frusterates me.

True, however I would have liked more follow-ups on VI and a few other games... instead of all focus put in VII.... that really annoys me. VI could have been so much more... until people joined the "bandwagon" with VII and over-hyped it to HELL.

Still, with VIII I didn't care for the Seagull nor the Rat (whatever, whiny, too... strange and then 180 degree personality changes. Though, that's just the simplified version of my dislikes).

Disciplinary Committee is what I care about, now... I'D VOTE FOR THEM ALL.

(Keeping in mind, Knights = good, Knights Templar = even better. Meaning, Seifer + his insignia (cross between crosses for Knight and Guardian, overall result of a symbol for the Knights Templar) and mythology behind their characters = hell of a lot better to my mind being trapped a few centuries past).

I agree with the point that it gives one the greatest sense of accomplishment. I remember the first time I beat the game...I think I sighed and finally relaxed in my seat for the first time in the previous three days. Long arse game (if you are a completionist such as myself). Well worth the time. Not the best ending mind you...but I am biased.

The whole personality thing was the entire point of the game...it's a shame so many people have issues with it.

Whoa, that is exactly how I feel about FFVII stealing all the spotlight!
The other FF games need to have some spotlight too....

Sigh I'm trying to find it...I saw it so long ago. You know how Square did a test for PS2 using the FF VIII ballroom scene, and then for the PS3 using the opening to VII? Well there is a vid out there where Square did a gameplay test for PS1 using FF VI as a model. I'll try to find it.
