Default Triple Triad VS. Tetra Master

In your opinion, what was the most enjoyable card game out of the two: Triple Triad from Final Fantasy VIII or Tetra Master from Final Fantasy IX?

Mine was Tetra Master, I felt more of a challenging element to it compared to Triple Triad which was don't get me wrong a great card game but Tetra Master gave me a lot more enjoyment.

How about yourselves?

I like Tetra Master for some weird reason. Just really liked it, even if the rules were never truly explained.

i never could figure out the rules to tetra master so whether i won or not fell entirely random. i liked triple triad a lot and enjoyed going through all the sidequests trying to get every card.

Tetra Master was the second worst part of FFIX, the rules were just bogus and every card battle was more or less just random happenstance.

Triple Triad was at least well defined and wasn't required to beat the game.

I liked Tetra Master. I've never played Triple Triad so I can't tell you about that one. I seemed good at Tetra Master though, even if it was blind luck. Never really understood if the cards leveled up or what. They seemed to.

Regardless, Tetra Master sucked.

Tetra Master was god. The rules are there just a bit hard to understand, hell FFXI even made a seperate mini-game of it where you can play online against others. It is definately better than Triple Triad IMO, I hated triple triad cause it was never explained. Hell I STILL dont get it. Tetra Master was easy for me to get xD

Tetra master was just retarded. The rules never really made sense so I gave up on it. Triple Triad wasn't so bad, I took pride in building up my collection until I got my ass kicked by Edea. Then I hated the cards and refined them all.

I found them funny, but fair enough, to each his own.

The dwarves were funny, the Qus were just excessive.

The dwarves were awesome. The Qu I had the most problem with was Quina. Of course, Quale interrupting my frog catching game wasn't exactly pleasing.

I would spend hours leveling up my cards on Tetra Master. By the end of FFIX I had all 100 cards! Though a couple of them I had to go back to look for. Tetra Master is the best!!

Tetra Master. You had to progressively learn and actually play to get cards that were rare. In FFVIII guides just told you "play this character and you win ____".

Tetra Master wasn't fun at all, the Triple Triad wipes the floor with it.

While Tetra Master is more random, Triple Triad is concrete and strategy based. If my card's number is higher, nothing pisses me off more than seeing it lose for some reason, and then that starts a combo, and suddenly I just lost a match that I had by a long shot. Then I lose a card that took me a long time and a lot of searching to get. Triple Triad has no hidden chaos clause like that. Yes, it has the elemental stipulation, but its at least in plain sight. Triple Triad is better by a long shot.

Sorry to say but Tetra Master was bleh =(

Don’t get me wrong, I wasn’t particularly fond of Triple Triad at first, since it was the last side quest I did on FFVIII. However, once I took at crack at it, I was hooked! Loved it. I enjoyed playing it and using all my best cards to kick ass, hehe. I guess once I knew how to play it I quite enjoyed it and finished the side quest wonderfully. (also I just had to get the Gilgamesh Card for further purposes) xD

I always liked Triple Triad better mainly because I could never figure out Tetra Master LOL.
