All my life I've grown up around parents who haven't liked any of the major "American" sports (including soccer). Through this time I have grown to dislike them, neglect them, and even despise them. So really I have never understood why people go mad over these sports saying that they are the best thing in the world. Please, I'm tired of hearing neglect just because I don't understand what people like about them. Tell me why others like them so much.

I really do not know. I am in the same situation evne tohugh my dad is into boxing. I tried getting into basketball, fottball and soccer. They really do not interest me. Ironically I am a runner for track and crosscountry. Well maybe it has to do with nationalism especially for the World Cup in soccer. As for the American sports I am not sure. City pride I suppose?

I'm a huge sports fan. I can watch nearly any competitive sport, and it will hold my interest. Being interested in sports, is just the same as being interested in video games. And I can definitely tell you one thing, it is in no ****ing way for city pride. While most of the teams I like are in North Carolina (Winston-Salem only has one real sports team, and that's Wake Forest), my favorite of all teams (the Denver Broncos) is located in Denver, on the other side of the countries. It's all about competing, and team pride; because the fans are what drive professional sports. The fans want to see there team win, and they are proud of their team. People watch for the competition, to see people lay it on the line, or maybe to see something they've never seen before. No game is ever the same.
I know no other way to explain it, but if you don't like sports don't criticize other people for liking them. Your interest in video games is equivalent to their interest in sports. |

Well I try not to get annoyed when they talk about them. Your interest in video games is equivalent to their interest in sports.[/quote] That makes me feel a little bit less Unique. I only fence and it's not as competitive between the fans. It can be extremely vicious when sword to sword. |

There are only three sports I'm really into; baseball, football, and hockey. Although I find it hard to actually watch them, at least on TV. Going to a game will have me interested though. I'm the kind of person who enjoys playing more than watching.
