da Silva actually sounds like a decent player, 34 goals last season which isn't too bad. Pretty sure that his league was probably better than the Scottish one which is something and even though Brazilian players usually struggle in British football he could still turn out ok. Better spending £8 million on him rather than spend £20 on Torres since he still hasn't completely convinced me of his quality. It's also been said that he had 'better' offers (Man United and Chelsea most likely) but took the Liverpool option since he doesn't like playing for teams who win Championships.

Villa have agreed a fee for Reo-Coker and it's just getting the personal details ironed out now, £8.5 is the reported fee.

I'm trying to care, really. But apparently we're actually becoming serious about getting Naismith and are tabling a £1.5 million bid for him which is about bloody time. The deal for Cuellar of Osasuna will probably not happen since we've not yet agreed on a price, they want £2.6 million and we've probably put a bid of ten quid in knowing how cheap we are.

Im worried now that Liverpool have Torres that Villa might be bidding for Bellamy. I really dont want him at the Villa- we have Carew, Agbonlahor, Maloney, Moore already. Id prefer someone else to provide healthy competition upfront than Bellamy.

Yeah 8.5mill for Reo Coker in the end. Isnt a bad deal, i suppose we can afford it now. He should link up pretty well with Petrov, who should deliver this season. Still wishing that we are bringing in at least 4-5 players.

Rangers seem to have a lot upfront now, didnt they just sign McCulloch as well?

We've signed Beasley, Broadfoot, Darcheville, Gow and Smith and still have Webster on loan I believe. We've also signed Arsenal youngster Giorgos Efrem whoever he is, never knew he existed til 10 minutes ago. I think that the McCulloch deal fell apart and if what I've heard is true then we're going to lose Naismith to someone else (Celtic probably).

You can't have too many players but I wouldn't sign Bellamy on the fact that he's a complete tosser, there must be more appealing players to go for out there.

Rangers have finally signed Carlos Cuellar from Osoasuna now as well.

You took the words right out of my mouth about Bellamy, even Alan Shearer said as much when he heard news that Newcastle might bring Bellamy back to the Toon...xD

O Neill promises more signings- apparently Defoe and Shaun Wright Phillips are targets. We were linked with Sneijder, but seems like he is going to join Fiorentina.

SWP on the right could work well with Maloney on the left, it'll sure as hell be a more exciting team than I usually see from O'Neill if he plays them. Don't know how likely that Tottenham will let Defoe go though even after signing Bent. You've also been linked to defender Brede Hangeland of FC Copenhagen.

Well it seems that the Naismith deal won't happen, Killie want more than the £1.5 million so we've gone on record and said we're (apparently) not interested anymore. The player is pretty pissed at this since he signed a new deal only if the club don't **** around with him like this and prevent him going to a club he wants to go to.

Biggest transfer story going atm of course is whether Man United get Tevez or not, a pal of mine pointed out that his capture means that United along with Rooney could very well have the ugliest strike force that the footballing world has ever known. Oh and they've got Hargreaves too for £17 million.

I wouldnt mind SWP coming to the Villa. He has pace to burn and O Neill could help him along very nicely i think. We wouldnt be able to get Defoe if Spurs put him on the market. Theyll be a whole list of clubs after his signature.

Rangers signed Roy Carroll the other day from West Ham to compete with McGregor for the goalkeeper spot.

Am i the only one who thinks Hargreaves is severely over rated? I must be mad though because Ferguson obviously sees his 'talent'.

No you're not alone in that assessment, he was England's best player at a World Cup which isn't the hardest thing to do really and suddenly he's a must-have player for United. The fact that nobody else has tried to sign him gives a pretty clear idea at how much other clubs see he's worth.

I don't think that Carroll is there to compete for the GK spot, more as back-up which means I hope to God that MacGregor never becomes injured since Carroll is more Rab Douglas than Stefan Klos.

Haha, i take it you arent fan of Carrol then?...xD

I make you right about Hargreaves, there was only United who seemed interested in getting him- i vaguely remember Bolton being linked ages ago as well. Bayern can do with out him, they have Schweinsteiger, Van Bommel, Ze roberto is back there too. Plus Ribery, Toni, Podolski- Jesus Bayern could be good next season.

Chelsea signed Malouda today and West Ham finally signed Bellamy- which ive got to say is a relief as Villa seemed more interested in Defoe.

Would you be happy to pick up a player who is best known for this? Now getting decent players on a bosman is alright but there is a limit to what I can take, I would be scared everytime he's in goal.

YouTube - Roy Carroll - Pedro Mendes Incident

Signing no player at all is better than signing Bellamy lets be honest.

I bet David Seaman still gets people shouting at him:

NAYIM FROM THE HALF WAY LINE....xD

You ever listen to Talksport Scrutator? I listen to it all the time back in England. Apparently Jamie Carragher said he was quitting international football and a presenter called Adrian Durham called him a bottler..xD. Anyway Jamie called him up and had a go at him. Quality..xD

I mind of that.

YouTube - Nayim Vs Arsenal

Another one he's well known for, I watched this game with an English pal of mine and he was sick when this went in. I'm pretty sure the media tried to pass this off as a lucky cross rather than a genius free kick.

YouTube - Ronaldinho Free Kick!

I used to listen to Talksport but stopped a while back because of the idiots that would phone in. I'm regretting that now after reading that, that must have been classic. XD To be fair though England players and bottler usually go hand in hand, but he should have known better than that though than to phone in and make an ass of himself since that sort of stick comes with the job.

He may as well quit the International game anyway, he's like fourth pick now in central defense.

We're in talks with McCulloch after Wigan agreed a transfer from us. Villa have signed Harry Forrester from Watford.

How could i forget the Ronaldinho goal?! There was all that bollocks about it being a fluke, but he saw Seaman had wandered off his line and the genius took advantage. Yeah you are right, the media tried to pass it off as a fluke.

Carragher has said that he decided to quit because he is 29 now and wants to focus on Liverpool more and that people like Woodgate and King were being picked ahead of him, despite them and others being injured and Carragher playing basically every game for Liverpool. i think he said something like IF theres an emergency- like all centre backs are injured- he would fill the void.

I really hate 5 Live so Talksport for me. Some of the presenters are pretty annoying too (for example i think Ian Wright is one there now- god he was a good footballer but i hate his inane comments whenever he is a pundit on the football matches on Tv for the BBC)

Yeah I saw we beat off stiff competition for the young footballer, hopefully our youth academy, which is pretty good, can get the best out of him- however theres still a long way to go for this prospect!

We've signed McCulloch now and it looks like a good signing from Smith a goal on his debut against Zeta but because of the midfeild rangers have i'd play him upfront with anyone exept Boyd.
I tell you Barry Ferguson is gonna have a craker this season.

Rangers have also just signed Daniel Cousin from Lens, another attacker

Villa havent had the pre season i thought we would have. Things are fine on the pitch but we havent brought in players that were promised to bolster our squad. Theres still a way til the transfer window closes and am expecting signings but its definitely nervy. Hopefully O Neill has things in place.

Hehe!

He is doing a great job with the Villa. Our win over Chelsea at the weekend was fully deserved. The only nagging point i have is that we didnt really boost our squad that much during the transfer window.

Villa beat them and the result against Rosenberg didnt help- that said Chelsea have made a wrong move getting rid of him. Even the lies of Wenger and Ferguson are shocked, and probably secretly overjoyed, that he has gone. What Abramovich wants, he gets.

Mourinho will bounce back- he even said that he would like to manage again in England in the future...xD

Arsenal are on fire. If we keep this form we'll have another unbeaten season. I thought it'd be a season or two before I said this, by my god... we're back!
