9/10 I thought this was a fantastic adaptation of Frank Millers graphic novel based on the ancient Battle of Thermopylae. The battle scenes were very stylish and violent which is always a great thing. If ever there was an inspirational movie this would be it..xD

I Trust You to Kill Me
It's basically a rock documentary about the tour of Rocco DeLuca and the Burden. The band travels Europe as they try to find their audience. The band is actually on Kiefer Sutherland's indie record label. Throughout the movie you see Keifer stop at nothing to get people to go and see his record label's band. There are a few comedic scenes with Sutherland getting drunk and losing his wallet. All and all it's a good rock documentary. 8/10

Take the Lead
With Antonio Banderas as a Teacher who is a professional Ballroom Dancer and he teaches everyone his style of dancing as they try to show them there owns then they agree on mixing up both of their styles creating a masterpiece of classical-hip-hop with ballroom. There are some people who still dread over their past but they see their new teacher as new hope. This movie is a true story and I recommend everyone goes watch it if they like dancing.

Spider-man 3
Just got back - absolutely loved it. I really can't see where the critics are with this one and the pretty brutal murdering they've given it at times. I admit at times it was a bit jam packed with plot threads and all that, and there wasn't nearly enough of venom (so good), but on the whole I found it to be pretty damn spectacular. There were moments in the film where I actually felt rushes of excitement and it's been a long, long time in cinema a film has brought that kind of feeling, I tell you. 9 out of 10

Spider-Man 3
Saw it Saturday on IMAX, which rocked. The film was good enough, though highly flawed. There was simply too much going on. Two characters were included who were not necessary- Flint Marco (Sandman) and Gwen Stacy. Including the Sandman would've been better if they could've devoted more time to his character but they couldn't and so while he was portrayed sympathetically the character itself was a bit hollow. Gwen Stacy was included merely as a device to create tension between MJ and Peter, and it was pretty transparent. Five minutes into the film and there's already an action sequence, and it seemed a bit too early, pleasing as it was. Another action sequence involving a crane was, again, very entertaining, but unnecessary. The film was somewhat bloated and there wasn't enough time to develop the sub-plots and that detracted severely from the quality. One minor gripe is "dark" Peter. Whenever he wears the symbiote he suddenly is wearing eyeliner and his hair becomes very emo...Needless to say, I didn't like that. All in all though, it was still a great ride, with a good story that just wasn't given the care it deserved. And as much as I think the inclusion of the Sandman was a bad decision, it made for a great final battle. 7/10 |

Grindhouse
First things first, for all those countries that are getting a bastardised version of this, ie cut into two films, you're really going to miss out on the experience that the film is trying to create. However, with that said there's still going to be two enjoyable films for you to look at. I can see the logic of having Tarantino's 'Death Proof' screening first. It's the more polished of the two films. There's a story arc, albeit a basic one, and the characters are much more well rounded making it a much better standalone film. Not that Rodriguez's 'Planet Terror' is a bad film by any means. If anything, Rodriguez's film is much more loyal to the grindhouse style movies that both are referencing, complete with missing reels covering up plot inconsistencies and masking key plot points. Rodriguez truely exploits the faults of these kinds of movies, bordering on parodying them. For me Planet Terror is the more enjoyable film though. It's exactly the type of B-Movie I was expecting - simple plot and lots of action/violence. It keeps the pace of the film throughout and any film that has Tarantino's cock and balls melting away is all good with me. Tarantino's film is entertaining too but it's really not massively different to what he's done before. It's immensely dialogue heavy and is basically his take on a simple thriller story whereas Rodriquez goes all out, including minor things like making the film reel seem warped and faulty giving it a worn out feel. Nicolas Cage as Fu Manchu FTW!!! 9 out of 10

Who Framed Roger Rabbit (Zemeckis, 1988) - 9/10
This film was most noted at the time of its release for its pioneering visual effects and the rare use of Warner Brothers and Disney characters alongside each other, but it's also a poignant, often times hilarious look at the world of the 1930s, Hollywood in particular, and what can happen when business concerns begin to trump the value of human (or cartoon) life. I hadn't seen this in years, and I'm quite glad I watched it again. I'd forgotten how good it was. Once upon a Time in the West (Leone, 1969) - 10/10 I can understand why so many critics have called this Leone's masterpiece. From a purely technical and artistic perspective, this may be the best film he's directed yet (I've only seen the Man With No Name trilogy and this thus far). The brief bursts of violence are generally over in seconds; the slow, plodding pace of the rest of the film reflects Leone's central concern in this film (and, indeed, in much of his work), which is what goes on in the moments that lead up to violence. The result is a film brimming with tension that, appropriately given the setting of the film, is only partially resolved. Regardless of the slow pace, however, every second is packed with cinematic detail; the shots and acting are superb, as is the use of sound effects as ambience, and Morricone contributes a typically fantastic soundtrack to round out the technical excellence of this film. Leone's films are typically character-driven rather than plot-driven, and this one is typical of his work in having a cast of memorable characters (arguably his best yet, honestly), all of whose actors (especially Henry Fonda) turn in bravura performances. All that said, I still find The Good, the Bad and the Ugly to be a more enjoyable film, but only barely, and I suspect the only reason for this dichotomy is that Once upon a Time in the West is a somewhat darker film. |

I liked Topher Grace as Venom but that's just me.
Pan's Labrynth 9/10 Basically an adult fairy tale that has a pretty decent plot but its epicness comes from the visual effects used in the film. from beautiful to hardcore. You forget the film is in Spanish while you're watching it.

Last movie I saw was Spider Man 3, as is with most people. This one so far is my favorite of the series, because the depth of what's going on isn't one dimensional. Usually its just a super hero going after one baddie in the end and everyone cheers him on as he's celebrated as a hero. This isn't one of those movies. Self conflict, among things is obvious, as Spider Man has to deal with his infamous "black suit". But in the end he he faces off with not one, but three super baddies, adding a more third dimensional aspect to the movie. To be honest, it is the only Spider Man movie that made me feel like going out and doing some web slinging between buildings around town, however gay that may sound.
This movie gets my 5 for 5

Spider Man 3
The film was enjoyable to watch as it wasn't your ordinary bad guy VS good guy. I enjoyed seeing Peter turn into another type of person but I did find the new him quite freaky, the major turn off was mainly his hair. I give this movie a 7/10

Spider-Man 3
Actionwise the move rocked but I didn't like the story to much. Might have been because their was too many villians. I didn't like how they made Venom look either. Ohh well I give this a 7/10. Not the best Spider-Man movie but an enjoyable one. |

Detroit Rock City
I saw a it couple hours ago. The movie is funny as hell. These kids in the 80's go down to Detroit and try and find ways to score some tickets to the Kiss concert. Three were burnouts and one was a poor sap that was highly submissive to his mother, which was the part I liked. I also liked what they called "Stellas", those fags who like disco. |

I also just saw Pirates of the Caribbean and I have to say it was very dissappointing. I wish I could give it a good review but man it was the worst of the 3. Not just the worst but by far the worst. The movie included some really cheesy junk in it, and just wasn't that funny either. It does provide closer so I everyone has to see it, but maybe not in theatres.
5/10 If you go into the movie expecting it to be bad you may like it more, happens to me all the time. So just expect it to suck when you go in and you may like it more.
