they have brought is great films like Ichi The Killer and Battle Royale 1 + 2 and Ghost in The Shell and Akira but to name a few... whats your favourite film to come outta Japan?

mines probably Ichi The Killer and Battle Royale 1 + 2. anime wise would be Ghost In The Shell and My Neighbour Totoro

I watch almost every movie from Japan I can get.We get here japanise movie only if it's blockbuster

the glory of the tinterwebs is an amazing thing! buy them off the net! alot of the american re-makes are total killers of the original Japanese movies like the grudge and the ring... america killed the films they were not scary they were FUNNY! the japanese versions well they were a tad scarier!

you're right about ring.americans totally killed the atmosphere in it.second ring is one of the worst movies I've ever seen in my entire life.

Well that limits it down to about half the films that come out of Asia in general.

Princess Mononoke, Spirited Away, and Howl's moving castle were the only anime movies I liked.

Only anime I actually watch whenever it's on would be Cowboy Bebop, Samurai Champloo and Ghost in the shell.

I once saw one where this guy got mixed up in Yakuza business and turned into a cow. It was really wierd yet awesome.

has any1 seen any tv shows? i own 6 episodes of MPD: multiple personality disorder psycho. its by takashi mike, the same guy that did ichi the killer, its VERY weird and i have a feeling theres only 6 episodes to it!

best one to come out of Japan? Probably either Godzilla: Final Wars, Godzilla versus Gigan, or Godzilla versus Mechagodzilla

Zatoichi- Updated by Beat Takeshi, starring as the Blind gambler/masseur . Behind this humble facade is a fierce and master swordsman who helps those that need it.

Audition- A slow burning film that starts off with a man supposedly auditioning for a female star in his film, but really he is looking for a wife. Its the second part of the film where the woman he has chosen comes into the spotlight that things really kick of.

Ichi the Killer- Brutal, violent, disturbing- These words dont do it justice! The Anjo clan has suffered the loss of their head leader. Kakihara, Anjo's right hand man, sets out on a quest to find his boss (regardless of the evidence that says he's dead). Things begin to turn for the worst when a group of men that were once affiliated with their syndicate but kicked out, set their eyes on seeing the Anjo Clan's complete annihilation. To make thing's worse, they've got the mysterious and extremely deadly killer Ichi on their tales.

Also worth looking for: Visitor Q, Yojimbo, Sanjuro, Seven Samurai, Battle Royale, The Ring, Dark Water

Infection is a trippy film about a terrible disease and murder. It all takes place in a hospital, and I still don't fully understand the film, but something about it still satisfies.

The fact you mentioned Battle Royale is true win.

To give a bad point to the Japanese their suicide rate is still over 30000 a year which is incredibly high.
