The new Spider man movie has already hit Japan and May 4th (my Bday!) being the date the rest get to see it. Cinema Blend have some stills from the film to tide you over til you rush to the cinemas:
50 New Spider-Man 3 Stills Seeing as how there isnt a Spiderman thread: Post here what you have made of the previous two films, what you expect of this new one- also what does the future hold for future Spiderman films? Will Maguire, Raimi and Dunst stay on etc? Is it essential they do?

Sam Raimi has made it into a class comic book movie. I was skeptical of Toby Maguire as Peter Parker but now I like him. Shame he's thinking about hanging up the suit. I'm a bit skeptical of Topher Grace as Eddie Brock (I preferred the Cartoon version of Eddie) but I guess I'll have to see.

I never really was a big fan of the comic books or the cartoon, but I love the SpiderMan films. The first one really turned me around on the whole SpiderMan thing. I thought the storyline was great and the action scenes we're even greater.
The second one, despite my predictions, actually improved on the first one by quite a bit. I knwo absolutely nothing of the third SpiderMan movie, except that it exists, so I won't say anything about it just yet. |

Rumour, hearsay regarding the fourth installment. Raimi talked with Larry Carroll with MTV News on a number of things:
He confirmed that Sony was definitely making more movies, but that he didn’t know what his role with them would be. “If I can't find the right story that would work for me and that I could tell really well, I would like someone else to tell that story, but if it's a great story and Sony will bring me back to the screen, I would love to." Raimi admits that he would have a hard time carrying on without franchise stars Tobey Maguire and Kirsten Dunst and also mourns the loss of James Franco from the franchise Raimi says he’d love to see Electro, the Vulture, or possibly the Sinister Six as a full team of villains. He also would like to reward Dylan Baker’s patience with a villainous turn – his character, Dr. Curt Connors, becomes the Lizard in the Spidey canon. Regardless of his desires, Raimi has the right mindset, however, and points out that it’s really the journey of Spider-Man and Peter Parker that determines who would be the right villain for the next film. Mostly stuff weve heard before though Taken from: Raimi Talks Spidey 4 Villains

I quite liked the first two installments, but they tried to pack in way too much storyline into the third and it killed it. Venom should not have been in that film; I don't know what the **** studio executives were thinking. Also, Peter's emo phase was apparently supposed to be sympathetic, but it was just laughable.
Who is confirmed as being on board for the fourth film? |

As long as J. K. Simmons returns as J. Jonah Jameson as well as Bryce Dallas Howard as Gwen Stacy and Dylan Baker for Connors then they can change the rest of the cast for all I care. Having the Sinister Six in the next one would be a bad move considering that having three villains proved such a major problem in the last film. The Lizard along with either Rhino/Electro/Vulture should be more than enough.

I'm surprised they didn't kill off Gwen Stacey in the movie even though it was only a bit part. In the comics I forget if it was Harry or his dad who killed her. Either way it would have atleast kept the movie in some form with the comics instead of just going off like 3 did.

I've only seen the two first movie yet, and i must say that i liked the second one better. Both ones were enjoyable but the second one had soemthing the first one didn't. Prolly won't see the third one for quite a while either, since everyone says it's worse than the first two.

I would have thought Mary Jane should have been killed off in 3.
As for the villains; - Kraven - Silvermane + Tombstone / [robo-gargoyle guy who used to be in a wheelchair] / Vulture - Scorpion (who incidently is Venom today) - Morbius And Dr Connor should be in there. Maybe Felicia aka Black Cat, too. Doesn't have to consist of all mentioned (Kraven's or Morbius' story will be large), but I think the film should revolve around the Neogenic Nightmare saga. Any of those choices will make for a darker movie than the rest IMO. |
