Howl's Moving Castle

I'm also a Miyazaki fan and am excited for his next film which is apparently Ponyo on a Cliff coming in 2008. His son also did a movie on Tales from Earthsea, which is apparently a trilogy but from what I understand he only did a film on the last part of the trilogy. Last I heard Sci-Fi has a copy right for that story until 2010 because of a series they are doing, so we may not see this film until then.

i own it the studio ghibli collecters edition too and i had calcifer as my msn dp last week i adore this film i went to see it at the cinema when it came out and WOW! i loved it and i loveds christian Bale as Howl... he does well as an anime dude... cute too

thats 1 of the best quotes of the film! i wanted ot be sophie so badly when i saw that film or for howl to be real... my partner got a TAD jelous of an anime char and well leave the i got a bucket of popcorn chucked at me for my troubles and comments for another time!

heres something i noticed about the flims of Miyazaki. he draws upon female charecters but in every film is a differnt strength of the femanine personality that make the whole person so complex. usually a younger girl due to the extent of emotion they feel. i think this works so well in his fiolms and no other charecters (epesialy male) could fill the role of main dialog in the films.
howels moving castle, My Neighbor Totoro, Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind, Castle in the Sky, Spirited Away & Princess Mononoke are some of the most beautifull anemie with such thick texture and personality.

might i also add thats Miyazaki's freind Hiroyuki Morita made a film called the Cat returns that i also recomend if you liked mvoing castle....

I love Howl's Moving Castle! It's my favorite Miyazaki film right now . I think I liked Howl with blond hair better than black. XD

I love this movie. Of course what else do you expcet from a Miyazaki movie? I don't think I can choose a favorite part. I can quote my favorite line but the entire movie can be interpreted diffrently from person to person. It's beautifully drawn and the story line is amazing. It mixes so many things it appeals to a lot of diffrent people. It's nice to know there are still movies out there that aren't just violence.

You know...the funny is that I found this film by pure luck! I had no frikkin idea about this moive or anything. =O

We were looking to rent a dvd and had no direction of any kind, yet I was in the mood to get an anime at the time for some reason, and then I felt it. I don't know, I just remember picking it up and I was like...O.o "hmm, this one seems interesting, yes I want this one!"

That's how I came across it, who would've thought eh?

All of Miyazaki's work makes me feel like a boy again. He has such an impressive nack for weaving a fantasy that teases at the corner of your mind that still believes there might be "magic" in this world. His work is nothing short of brilliant and what I love is that its not constantly about this happy overtone. It does boarder on fantasy but its so pure, there are no misconceptions about the main characters feelings or desires. Such blatent honesty is very pleasing.
