Default Douglas Adams

My absolute fav book is Hitchhikers guide to the galaxy and i've read it several times. But his other books about Dirk Gentley is very good as well. He must have had an incredible imagination, that man. It's really a shame that he died so early.

So what do you guys think about Adams' books?

Got a book with the first four books and readHitchhikers and Restaurant so far, really enjoyable to read and the humour is spot on. Will be reading the rest soon but I don't read two books by the same author in a row. Marvin is without doubt the best character in the whole thing.

Great, great author. The first four Hitchhiker books are classics, and Dirk Gently, which I'm reading right now, is rather entertaining as well. Shame he died so young; I'm sure The Salmon of Doubt would've turned into another masterpiece.

Think my favourite book out of everything he wrote was Last Chance to See though, just because it tackled real-world issues. Dunno, I'd have to go back and re-read everything to be sure. Which, come to think of it, wouldn't be such a bad idea.

There are five books in the Hitchhiker's Guide series, aren't there? I own the Ultimate Hitchhiker's Guide which has all the books, and I'm pretty sure that's how many there are.

Great author, by far my favorite. I don't read as much as I used to, I'll only pick up a book to read if it's truly great or if it's a requirement for one of my classes. I've read through the series at least three times, I'll probably do it again before HP7 comes out in July.

Yeah, there's five of them. Mostly Harmless wasn't quite as great as the rest of them, imho.

There are indeed five books; The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. The Restaurant at the End of the Universe. Life, the Universe and Everything. So Long, and Thanks for All the Fish and finally Mostly Harmless.

Yep, the books are great and Marvin is about as classic a character as you can get. However, I do happen to like the original radio shows even more. I didn't mind the new one either, especially the brand spanking new ending added to the terribly dreary Mostly Harmless.

Marvin is great indeed

I never heard any of the radio shows, but i have seen BBC:s tv-show, and that wasn't the greatest...

The effects in the TV show were cheesy as hell. Then again, that kind of makes sense, since it's a parody of bad sf.
