My sister stayed up all night reading the book, so I have it now. My mum wasn't ahppy that my sister gave it to me, so she's gone off all pissy to watch the 5th film.

I'm on the fourth chapter so far, and it's not bad. There's already been a death, and that's always a good sign

I just finished it up, and it's difficult to know what to say just yet. After everything sinks in, I may re-read it. I enjoyed it immensely but it didn't quite meet my expectations. Some of the decisions Rowling made, I think were brilliant, and some not so much. I don't know, I really need to just let it simmer for a while in my head.

One thing I continually thought while reading it, however, was that it was a stupid move to rush into making the movies without being able to see the big picture because frankly, there is so much plot to cover in The Deathly Hallows, that I just don't think it's possible to cover all the key points in any satisfactory way. And it looks as if past films may have left out some very important stuff which may be needed for the final film. I feel really bad for the ones who are going to be penning the final script.

The films Goblet of Fire and Order of the Phoenix leave out far too many important things. Where the book goes in to detail, the film does not. I disapprove of the last two films, very underwhelming.

I haven't managed to read Deathly Hallows yet, but I've heard that it's one of those books which would allow you to understand it better if you re-read it.

PS, two posts away from 600!!

I liked it. I felt it resolved most of the major plotlines in the series quite effectively.

I'm halfway tempted to reread the whole series now, but probably can't be arsed.

Done, and I quite enjoyed it.
Still sad that she killed off Snape, though. I knew he'd turn out to be good.
I had to be in Chicago when it came out, so I didn't get a chance to even start in on it until late Sunday afternoon. I finished it Monday night after work. XD

It annoys me that the majority took place with only harry and hermione and ron. I thought it was an imense book though and gutted its all over. And plus i really wanted harry to use the killing curse and he didnt. Did use the other two but no killer curse. Dissapointmemt. That was the only time in his life he will get away with it and he didnt use it. Finally the end bit where she says what happened to them all after. More detail would of been nice. wouldnt of killed her if she never going to write another.

I'm kind of glad she didn't go into too much detail about what happened after the end. It would have been nice to see how some of the other characters were getting on after it all, but if she went into too much detail it could have ruined the ending. The story itself ended quite well imo, and ruining it with a drawn out epilogue would/could have been a disaster.

What do you mean?
I think what he means is he hopes J.K.Rowling does a book in the future about Harrys Son, who was named after Dumbledore and Snape.

Wait! Didn't Fred die bye the roof falling in after he had put a stun spell on Augustus Rookwood?!? And didn't Augustus Rookwood die with his partner in that scene?

And what about the mass killing of Voldemorts death eaters after the breckout of Gringots? There were a few death eaters who died there not to mention a goblin!

Yes but they were not characters we knew about.

So much for the spoilers tags. XD
Fred was killed by a falling wall, not the roof, which was blasted by Rookwood. Percy took off after Rookwood shortly thereafter and Aberforth later hit him with a stunning spell.
