There's nothing worse than a band crying for so much crediblity that they can't even find their own indetity, and having to trail along on whatever this weeks "in thing" is.

In this case, war songs.

The lyrics have nothing to do with war, and are still lacking in any real flair or complexity.
The instruments are week, and the music is still as repetitive and poor as it's always been.
What's with the U2 look? And why does every band nowadays need a guy with a stupid beard?

Some real music, please?

woot, Linkin park, brings back such happy memories of a time not so long ago, eh Michael? :P

I would comment on the song itself, but seeing as how my sound card is ****ed beyond imagination I can't actually hear it

since when does a band have to remain static throughout their career? what's more, what makes you think this is a war song when the lyrics and video give no indication of that, as you just said yourself?
as for the look, i lol'd, but it's always fun to see how looks change between albums with any group.

I think you all have to understand that Linken Park is owned by a label which has an awful lot more to say about the look of a video than the band does.

What I loled at is that the drummer has clearly taken some drum lessons between albums because he's doing coldplay's trick of 'Hey check out what I can do! I can play a latin Jazz groove at about 50 bpm less than the latin dance tempo!'. What he's playing is beat for beat a standard cha cha beat.

something something, global warming, something something Al Gore, something something Bush sucks, something something, lets not fight, something something, lets pander to the crowd whose only view on politics is whatever their favorite celebrity's view on politics is, something something whine.

I didn't really listen to the whole song but knowing modern bands like Linkin Park, I'd say my description is within the ballpark.

every band or artist has a video at some point which is basically just a collage of stirring images and subjects, and as Heaven mentioned, that's usually due to the label. artists rarely have complete freedom with video design, but i suppose it's better that way. they're only musicians, after all.

I might cry.

Semi-political, Good Charlotte-looking bands I can stand. But. . .that's Linkin Park?

I haven't listened to a lot of them since Hybrid Theory, which I still throw in from time to time, but that's a major change from their last album. I'd need to hear more of it, but I don't think I'm thrilled right now. Too. . .typical.

The song itself is pretty damn good. Its not exactly clasic Linkin Park material, but it definatly hits my rock key. The video is probably due to the new producer they went with. I can't remember off the top of my head who it is, but I think they can go to hell for changing what Linkin Park once was, a kick ass rock band.

you havent listened to the song at all have you? dont jsut look on the surface or watch the video... LISTEN to it. listen to what chester is saying and how he says it and you might actually realise its about starting again and making a new life for yourself...

ive loved LP since the day they started and ive learned that whats being said is not always the case of whats meant. this is a prime example of that Michael.

past regrets? things that have happened that you wish never did? come on. out of that head of yours and into the song! yeah ok critisize me all you want for liking LP i dont care. they have a deep meaning and they sing about life and whats happened to them.

so yeah thats what i think of the song and i liked the video alot. it sounds like they are finally ready to come back again after a while out. and bloody good to. i was beginning to think they had dropped off the face of the planet

I heard the song earlier today. It really sucked. Bad.

Can't say I was surprised though.

I actually like this song less than I liked their older material. Impressive.

Velied under a weak pseudo-war-crime-wrongs-in-the-world theme.

True Seren, but that doesn't stop the message from being weak and entirely too angst ridden for it's own good.

I honestly doubt those rich snots would know a single thing about real suffering, and what they offer labour as "harsh life problems" really, really are. There's nothing wrong with singing about your feelings and emotions, but when 99% of it is about how much you suffered because your girlfriend of a week dumped you and your daddy didn't get you a new car (sarcasm), it's difficult to take serious.

Then there's the fact that their *music* (the bits without the signing) is completely talentless. Taking a really basic beat and repeating it a hundred times over is not, in my honest view, real music.

Then again Seren, that's only *my* view.

We're going to have to agree to disagree on this one, my friend.

I can honestly say that I'm liking the song a LOT. it's really amazing to me, since it's a TOTALLY different style for them. there was like no screaming at all, and it was a really nice beat.

WTF. Getting into the mohawk trend a little late, are we?

I didn't listen to the whole thing. I saw what I need to see in the first minute and 30 seconds. What they did is completely unoriginal and very very lame.
