Local Music Scene?
How is it where you live, if there's one to speak of?
Personally, I'd call my local music scene Saint Cloud, despite it being about fifty miles away. I go over for shows regularly, and I really like the scene. There are people you see at every show, main venues that it's an honor to play at, and everyone's really nice when you run into them. My girlfriend and I have been approached by people we've passed at five or six shows and we'll strike up a conversation based on nothing else than, "So are you going to _______ at Cheap Thrills on Friday?"
The music's really pretty good, too. We've got some bands that've made it onto national touring, one band in particular that could've if they'd stayed together, and a lot of local groups that are content to stay touring the same circuit they have for years. Big rock town, not so much hip-hop or country as the rest of the place, which I definitely approve of. Minneapolis was a big name an era or so ago when it came to local music ( it spawned Bob Dylan, for example ) and we get a good number of bands that come northward toward us.
Names from my area to watch for: Quietdrive, Tomorrows Forgotten, The Men Who Control The Weather, Screaming Mechanical Brain ( formerly Screaming Monkey Boner, but they got booted from venues too often ), The Angry Mothers, and other such things.
