I've been a huge fan of these guys for the last three years and was just wondering if anyone around here is really into them. Their new album is out soon and they've just released the first single "The Prayer". They're extremely contemporary in terms of their sound and lyrical content which I think is a total breath of fresh air from the revival **** the majority have been listhening to for the last five years ( well, me ). I mean I like the Raconteurs and everything but I'd admit their sound is a little dated ( which is OK ). However Bloc Party are very much in the now in terms of their original sound and it's just so refreshing to listhen to. "The Prayer" just sounds like nothing else, it's dark haunting rhythm and lyrics are just such a relief. Bloc Party seem to always get a lot of flak for being negative, but their response to this is always that they are social commentators who have noticed the lack of apathy amoung their generation in Britain which is something I can really relate to in my own life. I just think this band are amazing. What do you think ?

That better be pre "Sleeping with Ghosts" your talking about, they kinda lost the plot after that came out. All the same that's a fair comparison. I was really into Placebo during my early teens but Bloc Party have kinda picked up where Placebo fell off. "Two More Years is good but "So Here We Are" is better..it gives me butterflies. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dzZQJZdcCU4 |
