I think Kanwulf is just a retard, but Herbstleyd is valid as amongst the better Blackmetal albums ever made. Wigrid is quite enjoyable too, but no matter what anyone says, Wigrid is and will always be a Burzum clone.

TROB - Soliloquy Of the Stigmatised Shepherd

Very doom-like for most part of the song, the atmosphere even reminding of Funeral Doom. Love the solo, it's quite surprising but it works well.

Yeah, Herbstleyd is by far the main reason I like Nargaroth, although Geliebte des Regens and Rasluka have decent moments on them as well, and "Seven Tears Are Flowing to the River" is a pretty nice track

Your list of great German black metal acts lacks Nocte Obducta, I just noticed. So here's me pointing that out.

Hollenthon - Conspirator

Both of Hollenthon's albums close with an epic track. With the closing sequence of "Conquest Demise" (probably the best song Hollenthon evre did) and this, With Vilest of Worms to Dwell ends on a high note indeed.

Well, I missed Nyktalgia, Katharsis and Orlog aswell, and more, but that's not saying much, because I can't name all the great German BM acts, especially when I had quite some alcohol this evening

TROB - Blood Faults (I: thy Virginal Malodour )

Brilliant brilliant brilliant, this is so ****en epic yet so extremely dark and sinister.

That's a fair point then.

Nagelfar - Seelenland [Land of the Souls]

I'd forgotten how bloody great this group was. Or actually, I don't think I fully appreciated them until this listen. Glad TROB came out to get me to go back to them.

Still Blood Vaults

That build up! Those choruses! This is unholy art of the highest level, by the name of Satan or Odin or who ever.

but I guess I'll stop my fanboyistic behaviour for now

Nagelfar – Meuterei [Mutiny]

I just finished watching For a Few Dollars More about an hour ago, and verily, if Ennio Morricone had led a black metal band, it would have sounded exactly like this song. Epic.

Tomorrow Never Knows by Junior Parker from the Children of Men Original Motion Picture Soundtrack

I have to admit, this is one fine soundtrack for one fine movie, comprised of classic lesser known songs and some more progressive hip hop and even new agey stuff.

Artists: Manowar
Song: Sons of Odin (Immortal Version)

Well the song pretty much says it all doesnt it, Sons of Odin is a typical heavy metal song, cheesy lyrics and all. Manowar are in the record books for being the loudest band in the world.

The Ruins of Beverast – Soil of the Incestuous

I have to admit, if this doesn’t top Deathspell it’s nearly as good at the very least. I really haven’t heard anything like this before anywhere. Definitely gonna have to check out their other album as well.

Nine Inch Nails - Final Destination

Pretty good song. This band usually does do good music and, in my opinion, has a bit of a unique style to them.

Nocternity - Onyx

It's been a while simce I listened to this. Some high quality blackmetal with an extremely eerie, desolate atmosphere. The thin production reminds me a little bit of Abigor, but Nocternity have a sound of their own. I definetly need more Nocternity other then A Fallen Unicorn.

Every Little Thing - Feel My Heart

Best none commerical pop-band out there, not really what you'd call a rock-edge but has some mean ass guitar solos in there. Great vocalist too, I'm gonna check more of these guys out as I've got a few albums but ain't listened to 'em all yet, in fact only one but it's genius. This song is what made me sit up and notice these guys, really cool stuff.

8/10

Avenged Sevenfold - Betrayed

Probably my favorite song by them. The vocal harmony is kind of lame though. Thats what kind of puts me off from this band. Has pretty good lyrics and the solos are ace.

Nocte Obducta - Frühling: Des schwarzen Flieders wiegenlied

TROB has gotten me back into German black metal again. Nocte Obducta is one of the best bands in the scene, in my opinion, since at their best they perform large-scale epic progressive metal suites in quite an effective manner. The first Nektar album also fits the common mold of a life-to-death concept album drawing on a metaphor of time as cyclical (in Lunar Aurora's Zyklus, stages in the life cycle are compared to stages of a day, whereas Nektar Teil Eins and Nagelfar's Srontgorrth prefer to use seasons to get the message across). Great stuff.

Trivium - Entrance of the Conflagration

Great song. Its about that crazy bitch who drowned her 5 kids in the bathtub. Love the guitars in this song. And the drums, the drummer is amazing.

What would you suggest the best album to start with?

I'm listening to TROB for the 8 th time now.

Nektar Teil Eins. Nektar Teil Zwei is great as well, but it's not as conceptually unified. I honestly haven't heard any of the earlier stuff yet, but it apparently lacks the sterling sound quality of the most recent two release.

They're going on indefinite hiatus after their next release, just like Lunar Aurora.

Nocte Obducta - Anis (Desîhras Tagebuch Kapitel Eins)

This is Nektar Teil Zwei now. It keeps up the quality of the previous album's material, but I'm not really sure why they're considered two parts of the same record apart from the basic sound of the material. Although a couple of tracks between them seem to share melodic elements; maybe that has something to do with it.

K, gonna look up for some samples/mp3s tonight.

TROB - Solilogui Of The Stigmatised Shepherd

This is almost pure Black/Doom, which reminds me on some parts of Evoken and at one part of Esoteric, with someWorship thrown in. Possibly the least accessible TROB song to date, but I think it's great.

Queen - Bohemian Rhapsody

This is by far their greatest song ever. Everyone knows its true, no need for further explanation.
