![]() Sigur Ros - Agaetis Byrjun I couldn't get much into Sigur Ros before, but it starts growing on me, I catch myself playing this album more and more. Nice laidfback after mostly listening to extreme metal. A good calmdown, before putting the Dehumanized album on again. ![]() |

In Flames - Episode 666
One of the few songs i've heard from the albums before Clayman. The sound is pretty different, and i really need to listen to more songs from the earlier albums.

Dir en grey - Children
I've never bothered to lookup the translation for this song, I think I should though. Saying that though from the title I'm not sure it'll be very nice. Either way it's a great song, this was just as they started to go downhill, this si really where their style started to change tfor the worse, but still at least at this point it WAS something new and different. 8/10 |

Hellhammer's great, but there are a few drummers who manage to beat him for sheer speed and intensity. Frost is one; Proscriptor is another. And maybe Bränn Dailor, even if he's not a black metal drummer.
Wintersun - Starchild If more power metal were as good as Wintersun, I'd probably listen to it more often. |

Heinous Killings - Asphyxiating Soil Some realy innovative and incredible vocals. I have no idea how Joe Wolfe pull of these brutal Predator vocals, but they are sick as ****. the music is kinda repetitive, but now it's a full band, there's sure plenty of potential in this band. I need to see this live |

Arcturus' "The Sham Mirrors" really reflects Axel's performances. I mean, Hellhammer's just marvellous on the album, well, awesome in general, but this album is just brilliant drumming wise. If you're looking at speed, you've got to look at Dave Mackintosh and Max Kolesne, and if you're looking at blastbeats, again, Dave Mackintosh, Max Kolesne, Nicholas Barker, Derek Roddy and Flo Mounier are some essential names, and if you're talking about generally brilliant drummers, you've got to mention Portnoy in there, just because imo, he's the best drummer ever.
NP: Ulver - In The Red If it's by Ulver, it's usually an awesome track. "In The Red" is one of those usual songs. ![]()

Agreed on "The Sham Mirrors" and Mounier. Still, Frost's speed is probably unparalleled, except maybe by Proscriptor. I'm having a hard time deciding whose drumming is more mind-bending, so the only solution is to listen to a bunch of Absu and 1349 in succession.

You have good tastes, Aaron.
![]() NP: Arcturus - Kinetic I've got myself started now. Hellhammer's random introduction of double pedals is brilliant in this song, and the general over-voices are brilliant, the fun-fair sounding theme about 3 and half minutes into it being damn effective. It's a nice flowing song, and I feel that it's a good album introduction song. ![]()

Dir en gey - 蟲-mushi- Great acoustic song, may have rated this one pretty recently actually. Builds up very well, not the greatest vocals Kyo has ever put on show but this one is all about the music. 8/10 |

Godspeed You! Black Emperor - Slow Riot For Zero Kanada EP
Just arrived today in the mail my GY!BE collection completed., So I just opened my package, and releasing the cd from the (as usual) enigmatic digipak with high expectations, putting the cd in my player with almost shakey hands. As far as I listened to it, this seems very good material. Some say the best they have ever done, but I need to listen all the way through to agree or disagree. ![]() |
