Queensryche - The Hands

From their newest album, Operation: Mindcrime II. It's a fairly slow song, but it's still pretty good all the same.

Kroda - Cry to Me, River... (Betrayal of Knjaz Volodymir)

A recent discovery of mine, they've quickly become one of my favourite folk metal bands even despite my distaste for their political stance. Not that you can really understand black metal vocals anyway, especially when they're in Ukrainian. This is epic stuff and despite the wistful tone of the lyrics it has an uplifting vibe to it that's rarely found in black metal; the twin guitar sound works nicely and the addition of flutes was a pretty fantastic decision really. Unique.

Forest nazi's making Whistle Blackmetal :')

Obituary - Denied

Frozen In Time is just a good Obituary album, despite Tardy's vocals getting a less weaker, they are still disgusting. A second Cause Of Death they will most likely not make, but this Old School Deathmetal band will always be among the classic bands.

It ain't out of choice though, I have a test today, and I have to sing this song in Japanese. I have the feeling I'm gonna **** it up, well I KNOW I am. I never want to here this song again in my life.

Extreme Violence - Sepsism By Stabwound

Like Inveracity, a great Suffocation clone from Greece. Those who seek originality should stay away, but the intense riffing and catchy songs makes me like it. **** originality, if you can be this brutal.

HANABI - Hamasaki Ayumi

Not give ehr stuf fmuch ofa listen recently. Well she always makes it into my top 10 listens on last.fm but I used to listen to her stuff a lot more. This is one of my favourites of hers as it's something different, and wel...it's good. There aren't many female soloists who make pop good, in fact Ayu is te only one I can think of other than Abe Natsumi and she doesn't really count. Great song anyway.

hey, I happen to find whistle blackmetal quite appealing

Cult of Luna - Vague Illusions

I've gotten to the point where I find most post-metal quite boring because I always find myself comparing it to Godspeed You! Black Emperor (who are the reason I can't truly enjoy most other post-rock; again, it pales in comparison for me). Cult of Luna are the exception. Perhaps it's just their wall-of-sound approach, and perhaps it's the fact that their leftist political stance happens to match my own quite nicely, but I find their entire catalog quite engrossing.

Eagles of Death Metal: "Cherry Cola." Also, "Shasta Beast."

The EoDM are perhaps one of my favourite bands, ever. Catchy and flippant. Very, very, very flippant. With lyrics like:

"Got some needs yeah, I need to shake it
And I razamataz you honey, if you want me to
I can be your daddy, be your rock n' rolla'
You can be my sugar, be my cherry cola
Got some needs yeah, I need to skake it"

And

"Get your motor running
Come on, dance with me
Your momma and your poppa always hassle me
Get you home by midnight but it's ten to three
Stop huffin' and a'puffin' like a shasta beast
I wanna pick the lock and break your chastity
I've got the combination and the master key
I'm a dancer and romancer not a monster beast
None come before you
None come after me"

You can't take them seriously or else you're liable to get a hernia from conflicting urges; to hate or to orgasm to their music.

I love everything about the core members of this band, too. Jesse Hughes and Joshua Homme are two men I'd hit over, and over, and over, and judging from their closeness, probably at the same time.

I happen to take people not very serious with supposedly heavy 'lefty' views listening to Nazi Blackmetal ( with or without whistles :') ) mostly 'zomg you can not hear the lryics anyway'. It's something like a biological meat eating vegetarian. Never understood this.

Death - Archangel

Ahh classic Demo material. All Death demo's are pretty killer. As old school as old school Death metal can get. Raw, thrashy metal with a pretty good sound, for a demo and especially from that era.

If I were actually buying their music I'd be inclined to agree with you, but I'm not. I don't have to support all or even any of an artist's viewpoints to enjoy their music; I prefer to keep an open mind rather than restricting myself to some dogmatic system where I have to approve of the artist's stances on politics or, for that matter, anything. I mean hell, I don't like heroin use either but that doesn't stop me from enjoying the Velvet Underground and I feel I'd be a prude if it did.

To put it another way, anarchism means freedom for everyone.

In short, if I arbitrarily chose to ignore the art created by people just because I happened to despise their political stances, I feel I'd be betraying the principles of anarchism.

But of course, that's just my own personal interpretation, and it's well worth noting that anarchism is not a series of rigid dogmas with set ways you have to behave. Everyone gets to derive his or her own interpretation, as long as it does not infringe upon the freedoms of others - that's the whole point.

Cult of Luna - White Cell

Already expressed my general love of CoL, so I'll just note that I really like the way this song transitions into Crossing Over.

If tolerating expressions I don't like is considered open minded, then I'm damn proud to be closed minded. But seriously, I'm highly supportive to metal in general, and when I enjoy something I support it. Lyrical content DOES make a difference. A subgenre that is called after an ideology is pretty silly if you ask me. Especially when the origins of Black Metal lyrics relies in Satan, Pussy, Destruction, Misanthropy and Evil, and not politics and that kind of bull****. There are other music genres for. Not Black Metal.

Yeah so I''m restricting myself. I'd rather restrict myself to bands that express something I don't mind then being open minded that listen to bands which expresses something I hate. I'd say **** Anarchism It's all about self control for me. But to each their own :weed:

Oh, and using a flute in Blackmetal is not art :')

Putrid Pile - Food For The Maggots

Nice brutal pummeling one-man band Deathmetal. Both Shawn's rule. The Insidious on and the Putrid one.

I never understand why people try to convince each other of ways to justify their musical tastes. For one I know I have questionable music tastes, the only people I hate are those who listen to music that's mainstream or one genre simply for the sake of it. They haven't taken the time to check out other genres or styles and yet will moan about other peoples. What I don't mind seeing is a musical discussion between people who have least properly decided the kind of music I like.

It would seem like a fair point to say that I only listen to JPop simply because it's Japanese, which to be perfectly honest is utter bollocks, there's just as much **** in Japan as there is in any other country. Yet for me there's a lot more stuff I enjoy from there too. I'm sure there'd be plenty of metal heads and the like who would quite happily laugh at my tastes of Morning Musume etc but record sales would quite clearly show which is more popular. But like I've said, that doesn't prove anything anyway, music is personal preference, end of. Despite the fact that I hate to admit it even all the RnB **** that's around nowadays is opinion...and my opinion is it's ****.

A few years ago I would have felt sick at the thought of listening to a band who doesn't play their own instruments and whatnot but now I'm perfectly fine with it, simply because I've broadened my horizons and whetehr I agree with people's opinions or not I've learnt to accept them. One thing is for sure though, I'm honest when it comes to other people's musical tastes, I won't say that something is ****, but I'l lsay that I think it's ****. Usually it ends up with the other person mouthing off while I stay perfectly calm, which is why I never talk about music very often: because people can't accept that you don't like the same things as them. Quite sad really.

Aaaaaaaaanyway...

ZONE - Akashi

Really under-rated band, all girl pop-rock and that actually does play their own instruments. Which does actually add some appeal as it isn't something you find everyday. When they started out the oldest was like 14, they definately had talent but it seems like they were doomed to fail. After all, you release 4 albums each called Z, O, N and E and then you split up? Well that's a coincidence...Good song though anyway!

It is or I think it is is opinionated in either way. And basically it's not about the taste of the music - rather the questionable ideology of the band, and why someone would listen to it even though the ideology opposes the listeners own ideas. Which I still don't get it, the anarchistic logic doesn't seem make very much sense to me, to be honest. Like I said: whatever floats your boat n ****. I'll always spit on lame 'subgenres' such as National Socialist Black Metal.

That's the way it goes in metal. posers are getting spitted on, just like lame spinoffs kind of metal like NSBM and Unblack Metal, which in both cases is just Blackmetal just with contradictionary ideology to the genre's originals.

Yes I'm an elitist prick sometimes but it's elitist for a good cause. :weed: ( Damn this forum needs a cannabis smiley ) In general I'm just a nice guy who enjoys a good time listening to this **** while enjoying some beers with some bro's. Because metal is really about having fun in the end. That's why a lot of Blackmetal and most of their fans suck since the early 90's, too much serius business. I'm heading lately much more into the old school direction aswell. Suicidal Blackmetal, NSBM, Unblack Metal, bah.

Bathory - The Return

Because the classic can't be ****ed with

Like you say, all opinion at the end of the day. Even if some people's opinions are...questionable.

X Japan - Art of Life

Damn, this again. It is 30mins long so it's not surprising I get caught listening to this again...as I said before, brilliant.

yep

Tormentor (Hun) - Elisabeth Bathory

Old school epic. Classic song that unfortunately got it's biggest fame because the Dissection cover. Keyboards used right. Atilla Cshiar's vocals were at it's best back then imo, way more aggresive and already pretty disturbing. Plus Tormentor is the best band Atilla has ever played in imho even though the band name and songtitles reek of cliche.

AcQuA EP - ONE REASON

These came heavily reccomended, and I had high hopes for them. Shame they're not very good...they're not terrible, but let's just say below par eh? This could be any songs of the albums so far, none of them have stuck in my head. There is a pretty decent guitar solo in here, though only for like 20 seconds.
