Say Anything - "Yellow Cat (Slash) Red Cat."

Say Anything, if you look past the emo-esque surface, is actually a really talented band with a lot to say. Their double-album is full of satire, raw opinions, and a lot of other quality stuff that you don't see from too many bands these days. "Alive With the Glory of Love" is a powerful little bit about love in World War II, while "Admit It!!!" is a bash to all the pseudo-intellectual hipsters packing the coffeehouses these days. "Wow, I Can Get Sexual, Too" is about a girl that lead singer Max Bemis allegedly met online and a phone sex venture they had, whereas "Every Man Has a Molly" is about a girl that supposedly broke up with Bemis after he said too much about her in songs -- over which he says to the fans, "You goddamned kids had best be gracious with the merch money you spend / 'Cause for you I won't ever have rough sex with Molly Connelly again." Once you get used to Bemis' voice, the music is pretty addictive, even. Definitely worth checking out, even if you don't stay with them.

Dokken - Into the Fire

I wouldn't have even known about Dokken if it weren't for Hear N Aid. It's some good 80's rock that is basically like the majority of the 80's bands. Good stuff though.

Dio - Caught in the Middle

Dio was called "devil's music" a while back, because they apparently had satan in the background during their concerts. Probably to piss off protesters imho. Dio's pretty heavy, something I really like getting into.

Negura Bunget - Vremea locului sortit

Romanian progressive black metal band whose songs are crazily epic. In a genre famous for its atmosphere they've created some of the most atmospheric music ever to reach my ears; this album (Maiastru Sfetnic) is classic from beginning to end, yet it's surpassed by their next two full-lengths. A fantastic band.

Fantastic German folk music; I don't know why I didn't listen to this group sooner. I can see why they broke up after this album too; I don't think they could have topped it.
