Well, I really liked Seymour not only as an antagonist, but as a character in general. Actually, he is my favorite villain from all of the Final Fantasy titles.

It would definately been Vayne.

I have a big long-ass essay about this character, but I really can't be arsed to type all that out again. Suffice to say, I felt his had much more depth, identity, and a genuine human quality to his character that hasn't been seen before, and with Tetsuya doing character design again, unlikely to be seen again for a long time.

I give it to Shuyin from Final Fantasy X-2.
That is my favorite Final Fantasy game ever.
And he is the best Final Fantasy villain ever.
In fact he is the best villain ever, period.
And Final Fantasy X-2 is the anything ever, period.

He is just so dark, and angsty, and emo, and cool, and badass.
How could you not like him?

Well, None, really. I might change my mind once I finally get around to playing X-2, which, from what I understand, is worth it, if only for the ending cutscene.

X, none of them were really worthy villains. Seymour is a pushover, Yu Yevon is a tick (You went through all that for a final fight with a TICK?), and Sin is a giant whale. Woohoo

XII, same scenario. Vayne is a typical tyrant, hardly any personality other than arrogant, and more of a nuisance than villain. The Judges are laughable, and fall far too easily. I honestly like the dragons and other monster bosses far more than any Hume bosses.

And Ba'Gamman, fleeing from him was my favorite part of the game, and also the scene had my favorite music for XII (Which isn't saying much)

I also liked Seymour because although the battles against him were ridiculously hard, he had a good themesong.

Yu Yevon, in concept, is probably the best villain in X, although I agree that the execution was a little bizarre. But it contributed greatly to why FF X's plot was so good.

And I will not comment on FF XII...

I thought Seymour was the best Antagonist cause he was harder to beat than the other villain i would say was my favourite, Shuyin. He was ridiculously easy to beat.
Ive had FFXII for ages now and still havent started playing it yet so cant comment

I can explain my reasoning if you wish, but to be brief:

XII was a disappointment: lack of interesting/unique villains contributed to this (judges were all the same, Vayne was bland, etc.); really Dr. Cid is the only one remotely worthy of praise.

XI was a disappointment: MMO, need I say more?

X-2 was a failure: beyond the return to a classic battle system it sucked majorly. The antagonists were particularly uninspired.

X was well done: it had villains whom you could actually remember and connect with.

Oh, and I'm revising my statement. Yu Yevon was fine as the umbrella antagonist, but my favorite, for many reasons including character, symbolism, placement, appearance, etc, is Yunalesca. That entire Zanarkand arc was probably the most relevant to the plot and the most tastefully done, imo...
