Aside from FFVII wich is without a doubt the bloody best!
FFXII is one hellavan awesome game! But i keep getting killed by some stupid high ass level monster in a weaker area... that kind of annoys me... Havent finished it yet but planning too... and soon |

Story wise I actually liked it. It focused more on one's love for their country and focused more on Ashe's goal of saving and reclaiming Dalmasca. It wasn't the traditional "hey guys lets go stop da world from being destroyed!!!!!111111".
And they don't go deep on anything at all? There is an epic on the espers, and the primer goes in pretty deep on each esper's history. It was nice game play wise as well. I did enjoy the no random battles. The monsters could have been more diverse. I felt there were too many of them with just different colours and slightly altered designs. Races were cool, other than FFIX it was the only FF to have so many races living among each other. Character development could have been worked on more, but that's just Matsuno's style. |

It wasnt a great attempt at a final fantasy for me. It didn't feel right. The story was a bit shallow, and i didnt like how you could skip ahead and miss out on so many side-quests and missions without realizing it. I walzted through the story, then realised i had missed out on two espers and then needed to power level for 10 levels per character jus to continue.
Still, 7.5/10 for me. |

The game was something I actually was waiting for and it truely is an amazing game. Too me it was redemption on Square's part for the last few games.
Final Fantasy XII may have put the story in the backseat but nevertheless it is epic. I adore stories revolving around war, rivaling kingdoms, assasinations etc. More importantly Final Fantasy XII stresses what games are actually suppose to do and that is provide gameplay. For once in a long time I actually enjoyed battling. A game that has awesome gameplay but a lackluster story will catch my attention over a game that dirves itself by a storyline but a drag to play. |

I think its tight so far. I'm in the beginning of the game, where you board the first airship. I'm kind of worried about setting the right gambits and licenses. Should I go in different directions with everyone's license?
The graphics are nice. The no random battles are awesome. I was kind of confused when I first played because it reminded me of any other action game where you swing your weapon with a button. Then I remembered, "oh this is final fantasy, duh". |

Eh, the game seems pretty good so far. The only thing that annoys me a little is that is pretty much plays itself. I move fairly close to an enemy, wait until it dies, then move fairly close to another. I suppose I could just remove everyone's gambits and do it all manually, but then what would be the point of having the power to set up gambits?

havent completed it. but i like the license system. And i would suggest making a few characters the same (your tanks, basically) but then make a pure black mage, pure white mage, give them both green, arcane, and time magick... if you dont ahve a structure for yoour characters and their licenses it can become quite difficult to know who to pick in the big battles.

Licences aren't that bad to get, because in the begining of the game you can get a Golden Armlet which doubles your LP.
The best place to get LP is the Dalamasca Eastersand. After leaving Mt. Burmoiswhatever, just teleport or walk there ( you'll miss out of some LP and EXP if you teleport ). By the time you get to the Eastersand you can do a hit and run. They'll do little damage and die after one or two hits. It really depends on your levels. By the time I got there, they did zero damage and died in one hit.Anyways, the LP racks up when you're in that area. You don't have to waste the time of healing, casting, dispeling, etc.
I like this installment, but it wasn't one that actaully stayed with me. I don't know what it was the turned it off for me, but it did. I think it was the fact that in the last Final Fantasy games, they've foucused on a love story (which I love), and this one focuses more on politics. I still like the game though, just not as much as the others.

I love how most people that complain about FFXII are more so unhappy about how different it is from it's predecessors. I liked FFXII and welcomed the change. I hate the theme of love, Matsuno should have done more of the Final Fantasy titles.
