The best weapons in FFXII?

I know that this can probobly be looked up on gamefaqs but since this is a FF forum i will ask you guys anyway.
Where is it that you get all the powerful weapons in this game?
I know where you get the Zodiac Spear but i mean all the others like "Excalibur, Staff of the magi" e.t.c. If i outtha guess i'd say you get them from hunt's or something but i don't really know so...?

Beastlord Horn = Drop from Humbaba at Moshporian Highwaste
Moon Ring = Drop from Ash Wyrm at Moshporian Highwaste - Empyrean Seat area (where you fight Exodus)
Sagittarius Gem = Steal from Slime at Zeritan Caverns with Thief Cuffs


Whale Whisker: +108 Attack (Best Pole)
Aquarius Gem x4
Corpse Fly x3
Mythril x3

Aquarius Gem = Steal from Treant at Golmore Jungle with Thief cuffs
Corpse Fly = Drop from Dragon Lich at Pharos Subterra: Southwest corner of Penumbra Level (Subterra is the Pharos down the elevator)
Mythril = Steal from Mythril Golem at Giruvegan with Thief Cuffs. Or kill them for a chance to get it as a dropped item.



Masamune: +93 Attack (Best Katana)
Reward for completing the Ancient Man Of Mystery hunt (steal Genji equipment too)

or,
2x Gemsteel (1x Scarletite, 2x Damascus Steel, 2x Hell-Gate's Flame)

Scorpion Tail: +119 Attack (Best Axe)

Charged Gizzed = Drop from Thunderbug at Henne Mines or poach it instead.
Scorpio Gem = Steal from Buer at Zeritan Caverns with Thief Cuffs
Wyrm Bone = Drop from Skullwyrm at Zeritan Caverns - Drybeam Cavern Area

Emperor's Scale = Poach Archaeoaevis at Zertinan Caverns - Balamka Fault
Leshach Halcyon = Steal/Drop from Leshach Entite at Paramina Rift during a Blizzard (may take a few tries)
Lifewick = Drop from Necrofiend at Pharos Subterra Penumbra, Umbra and Abyseel areas.


Ultima Blade: +118 Attack
Adamantite x2
Death Powder x2
Gnoma Halcyon

Adamantite = Poach from Adamantitan at Cerobi Steppe (try near Feddick River)
There are 2 types of Admantitans, one type has 14K HP and the other has 34K HP. The ones that have 14k HP WON'T give you the admantite item - only the 34k's give it to you, if you poach them.
Death Powder = Drop from Bogey at Zeritan Caverns - Drybeam Area (very hard item to get. Go 2 zones away then return to the Drybeam area and chain the Bogey until you get 2 Death Powders)
Gnoma Halcyon = Steal from Gnoma Entite at Westersand during a Sandstorm with Thief cuffs

Or, in a treasure chest, Umbra floor - Pharos


Tournesol: +140 Attack +25 evade (Best sword)

Empyreal Soul = High Arcana, Soul Powder, Wargod's Band x2

or unlock in Bazaar: Serpent Eye x2, Snake Skin x4, High Arcana

High arcana = Arcana x10 (Drops from every monster when you obtain the Canopic Jar), Feystone (Drops from any Entite or Elemental, Soul of Thamasa (Drop from Oversoul at Necrohol Of Nabudis)
Soul Powder = Drop from Etem at Hennes Mines - Special Charter Shaft (Entrance to this secret area is from the Feywood)
Wargod's Band = Drop from Leynir at Nabreus Deadlands - Lifeless Strand
Damascus Steel = Drop from Bune at Pharos Subterra, Umbra Floor
Hell-Gate's Flame = Drop from Cerberus at Feywood
Scarletite = Drop from Emeraldtitan at Nabreus Deadlands
Serpent Eye = Drop from Basilisk at Feywood
Snake's Skin = Drop from Wild snake at Giza Plains Dry season


Wyrmhero Blade +130 attack power +50 evade, Holy Element (makes ol' skool noises in battle)
Sell Omega Badge x1, Godslayer's Badge x1, Lu Shang's Badge x1 to Bazaar

The best Ninja Sword called Yagyu Darkblade is dropped from a Rare Game: Bombshell

The best Dagger called Danjuro is dropped from Rare Game: Larvae Eater

Gastrophetes (Crossbow) is stolen from Rare Game, Pallicant

The best Gun, Fomalhaut, is in the treasure chest in the room where you fight the Antlion mark (Cerobi Steppe, Lhusu Mines - Pharos).

Staff of the Magi: Steal from Rare Game, Luxollid, who appears after defeating Vagrant Soul.

The Ragnarok is the reward for the mob hunt mark Ixion (Fishy Dreams).

Excalibur (128 attk.):

To get this holy elemental Two Handed Sword you must first have finished the events at The Great Crystal completely. After doing so go back inside this dungeon until you reach The Great Crystal – A Prama Vikaari again (the first screen). You are currently in platform VIII from there they are 3 routes one is up, one is down and another is sealed by Gate Scorpio. Go up, press the switch and return to platform VIII. There follow the just unsealed path up. You’ll reach platform IX, use the way stone to reach platform X. From platform X follow the only path until you get to XX platform. XX platform has two sealed Gate Sagittarius, one way down, two ways up, another way is where you come from. Go in the opposite direction of where you came from (which leads you down) continue a couple of screens and you’ll find a switch, press it and return to XX before the time runs out. In XX unseal Gate Sagittarius 2, not 1. Follow the new path and you’ll find yourself in platform XII, use the way stone to get to XIV platform, there go the way that goes up, press the switch in the next screen and return to platform XIV before the time runs out. There go the way down, keep going the only path through some platforms until third platform where they are two paths take the one that goes down.
If you have done the steps above correctly you'll find yourself in a screen with one horse type enemy and a chest, as soon as you go to the center of the platform two more horse-type enemies will appear. Get rid of them and cast float because there is a trap just below of the chest, be sure to equip the Diamond armlet, because it really helps. Now open the chest you can get gil, a sage ring or gil+Excalibur, how is that possible? When you first examine it the message will tell you you got gil, but the chest won't disappear, check it again and the Excalibur is all yours.
If you couldn't get it in your first try, don't worry, just go back 3 screens and the chest will re-spawn.
NOTE: You CANNOT get more than 1 Excalibur.

Volcano are the most powerful Hand-bomb with a power of 85. Complete the hunt Paying For The Past (Rank VI) to obtain the reward.

The Rod of Faith is obtainable on Mt. Bur-Omisace after clearing Rank VII hunt, Truth Shrouded in Mist.

The Grand Mace is a reward for Who's The Strongest?, a Rank VII hunt.

Your reward for completing the Rank VI hunt A Wild Stench would be Euclid's Sextant, last in the list of Measures.

But yes, upon selling those listed items to the Bazaar, the corresponding weapon should become available. In this case, selling 3 Beastlord Horn, 3 Moon Ring and 4 Sagittarius Gem will allow you to buy the Sagittarius Bow for 60000gil. :P

BTW I missed out the Mace and Rod, which I will edit in my post before.
