Hey when you've got nothing much to do sometimes drastic measures are required.

I agree when you say it was a let down. The storyline wasn't very well thought out, the main character barely had anything to do with the game, and Yiazmat could've dominated Vayne anyday. But after playing it the second time, the gameplay grew on me. The best thing about the game was Fran's awesome voice, accent, whatever you want to call it

I love FFXIII. It may not be one of the best, but it was a great game with beautiful graphics. I enjoyed the characters. I never thought they were plain or under developed at all. In fact, I thought even the side worthless characters had great points to them.
Like the Moogles! They had great personality. I'd rate the game a 8.8 out of 10! |

It was more lie "LOAD THE MEGA LOAD OF DIALOG AND STORY HERE" and then "Let's Go." and then they would go beat up some monsters and kill some bosses and capture Espers.
This game is great. |

I don't know why everyone complains about the plot and character development in XII. XII actually had a fairly gripping story with political coups, deep philosophical undertones, and very mature subject matter compared to the previous titles.
I mean, is it just because the majority of players couldn't handle it's intertwining plot devices? Because I can tell you, I was dissapointed with how little they included, as Tactics was much more complicated when it came to politics and Shakespearean drama. Each character had their little "story". Vaan had his dead brother Penelo had that poverty street urchin thing to deal with Fran was ostricised by her own people, Balthier was running away from his father and his past. Basch was conflicting between his sovereignity and his brotherhood Ashe was torn in what she should do with humanity. In the end, their characters were no less developed than any from, say, VI. But that's because it was the world around them that required more attention than the characters themselves. It's story was fairly consistent albeit it had a "Go there, do that" feeling to it, but which FF doesn't have that same feeling? My only beef with the story is how they ripped off Starwars for like the THIRD time, and how they made the bad guys fight for a cause greater than the heroes'.

Alot of the plot structuring was easy to miss on the first go around. Story elements seemed to be forgotten after two months of gameplay treking through the game's FIVE deserts. But yeah, it's all there.
I also found that XII's voice acting and scripting, was some of the best in the series, FAR surpassing X's even in both languages (It was a silly game with silly characters, admit it) I'm also leaning towards XII as having better voices than XIII's, though I won't say anything yet ;P

With 176 hours on FF12 I must argue the fact of my strong belief that it is a GREAT "New Age" addition to the series. New times call for new style, even though my favs are 6, 7, and 8 (which was discussed earlier that its rare to have 2 good ones in a row, thats 3 I'd vouch for lol) I think they did a great job on changing that little mini person you controlled from a birds eye point of view walking town to town rather quickly to a great visual and extreme wilderness journey from town to town. FF12 is deffinitly different but great in unique ways. I do wish they got deeper into the characters though.
