I also liked the gambit system. It did take a lot away from your classic Final Fantasy battle scenes that I was used to, but it was a refreshing change in my opinion. Sorry, I just didn't miss having to press attack and healing every single battle. And if you really put a lot of thought into it, towards the end when you got all the useful gambits you didn't have to do much work yourself.
I can't remember how many hours it took me to beat the game, but it did seem to go by really fast. I was sad to see it was over so soon.

I'm enjoying playing it so far, but I've sort of put it aside for the time being, I'm sure I'll come back to it eventually and finish it off. I know I'll probably never have time to replay it, so I want to try to do as many of the side quests and whatnot the first time around.
So far the plot for me is quite interesting and I do like how you can customize your characters with the licence board, even though I think it's quite easy to get licence points and have your characters good at pretty much everything. So far the best aspect for me is the characters, I'm not sure the plot is that great yet, I'll reserve judgement until I see more. |

yea i like playin it a lot, thanks to the gambit system you can relax more too in small time battles. the new battle system is kinda addicting and keeps you into the game. most importantly it makes you can to fight more enemies which equal more loot. And oh yea, the game freaking beautiful in graphics almost a next gen looking game. i'm halfway done with the game's story but i havent played it in a week since i got oblivion for 360.

I haven't beaten the game yet either, but I'm liking what I'm seeing so far. The battling seems less like a chore now and is much more fun, I'm liking the characters to. The cities have a good amount of detail added into them, though most people don't actually pay attention to that.
A few things I found annoying were how big some of the areas were. Size is good in some aspects, but the Sandsea was just ridiculous. I almost gave up on FFXII, until I was grounded from my PC and had nothing better to do. I can't say much about the plot right now, I'm at Raithwall's tomb. It's pretty good from what I've seen thus far, though. ![]() |

Final Fantasy XII is an excellent game and Square deserves and applause for this one. The series was beginning to become a bit repetative but it all changed with this one.
Storywise I felt it was to a certain extent incomplete. I truely believe the developers were under a lot of stress to get this game out and was not able to incorporate everything they wanted too. But the political nature of this game is well done. The story is something gullible and realistic. The music in this game took a unique turn. There are some tunes I do find boring and others I adore. My only complaint is actually the one Uematsu did. Kiss Me Goodbye did not fit well into the games political genre. Basically there was not a lot of interaction that I witnessed to feel bad for Ashe and her late husband. As for character developement it was adquate in some repsects while lacking in others. Each character got some fair share of development but then it all went towards Ashe and Balthier. I was really disappointed that Penelo did not get much of the spotllight. The battle mechanics of this game is a vast improvement. No longer are the battles tedious and random but enjoyable. The series for a while has relied on it's storyline to keep people playing. But I am glad Square is returning to a gameplay driven direction. The point of playing video games is the gameplay isn't it? Overall FFXII is a must play for the Playstation 2. I would give it a 9/10. After all no game is perfect. |

FFXII was excellent... I think it was a great way to end the PS2 era of FF games. It had enough of the old that it could still be considered a Final Fantasy, and enough of the new to whet our appetites for the next generation.
There were some things that could have been better... character development, for example, was lacking in comparison to other FFs... but on the whole, it was an awesome game. I do think that the Gambit system made things a little too easy at times. On the other hand, perhaps SE will use FFXII as a learning experience and make the great format even greater with it's future games. |

The beginning of FFXII was grand. The best of FFXII is actually the first 20 hours of the game. The game practically set everything up for you in the first 3 hours. Unless you are talking about getting use to the new battle system then I really do not see what is so "gay" about the beginning. Please elaborate?

the game was so shallow..characters werent developed right..the useless real-time is dumb..this isnt a fantasy..its TACTICS..a spin-off yet it gets a number..wtf..no comparison at all...this is the worst final fantasy since 3..though the only attraction to the game is the intro..(..reks was awesome..and though he should've just died instead of being mentally insane..or whatever coma he was in)..and ashe/basch are decent memorable final fantasy character..the others suck...everything sucks..even the final boss tried to be cool..who names a sword ''sephira?''

i thoroughly enjoyed it, the only thing that annoyed me was getting enough gil to buy stuff.
i liked how the music, not very memorable as it was, complemented the surroundings, the battle system ment that i could have dinner and play =) , the graphics are awesome and guns rock. too bad theyre a bit slow. The characters were fun to use. The best thing in my opinion about the game is that you can pause anywhere, or freeze anywhere, and even change characters, equipment, and learn abilities anywhere, even in a battle. I havent finished it yet. im up to Giruvegan. |
