![]() F I N A L F A N T A S Y E X T R E M E Important Site Update: Brand New Features, Even More Staff Changes, Why The Hell Is Jay Messing With Everything? JULY SECOND, TWO-THOUSAND AND SEVEN So, in case you guys haven't noticed, FFExtreme is undergoing some serious changes. A lot of this has to do with the fact that since I've taken over, it's somewhat my responsibility to keep the site fresh and moving. Thus, by bringing in new features, new staff members, and experimenting with new design tactics, I can accomplish what I set forth to do. Here's what's new to our site: N E W S T A F F So, yeah. There might be a few unfamiliar faces that you're seeing around the forums with bright colors on their names. Fortunately, these guys are the best that the FF community has to offer and I'm glad to have brought them/brought them back onto the staff. A former webmaster of FFE and dedicated member, Jak, has been rehired as a forums administrator. My former design partner and former technical administrator, Ravioli, has been restored to his former post and we will both be working on some pretty exciting projects to deliver to the FFE community. Longtime site staffer, Blitz, has recently been promoted to a technical administrator, where he'll be helping me and the rest of the tech team with our upcoming projects. Oti, a veteran on our forums and design genius has graced us with his presence as a super moderator. Istvan Kovacs also returned to our staff, utilizing a combination of his brilliant work ethic with his fun-loving attitude. Ashley, who is no stranger to our staff, has rejoined us as well to bless us with her spirit, knowledge, and graphical expertise. Tyler, who's a frequent and loyal member to our forums is another one of our newest additions, and is someone who knows how to have a good time. Another new staff member to our forums team, Jenova, is eager to make her impact on our forums, and we welcome her with open arms. With these new additions, we've maximized our potential for quality and fun. Hope you guys are pumped. N E W F E A T U R E S In addition to all the cool people that joined our staff, we also went through the trouble of installing a bunch of new features for you guys to use to improve your experience here at FFExtreme. THE SHOUTBOX Most notably, you noticed the return of our Shoutbox. Our Shoutbox has been upgraded to the Shoutbox Pro, jampacked with new features. For example, we can now post notices and updates at our disposal right above your Shouts so you never skip a beat with what's up on the site. Also, you can choose a font and font color and you'll never lose your preferences! Also note that you can privately message another person in the Shoutbox by using this format: /pm username; messageAlso note that by clicking on the "Active Users" tab, you can get a sort of "Who's Online" type of function, which is cool. There's a few other changes you'll come to notice as time goes on. THE "WHO'S ONLINE" LIVESTATUS BOX The LiveStatus Box which is built into the Who's Online portions of the forumhome tells you where your friends are on the site, when they were last active, and also gives you a little preview of their avatar as well -- all in realtime. Sweet. THE PROFILE COMMENT HACK Although this hack isn't complete, it is fully functional. Feel free to check it out for yourselves by clicking on my profile and commenting me! I'll comment you back if you leave me a hawt message. THE NAME REQUEST FEATURE Instead of posting in that stupid thread about a name request and getting a response from us ages later when you don't even care anymore, now you can request a name change through your User CP and we can confirm and change it through that. It's much quicker and much more efficient than a confusing thread. Keep in mind, we only honor 1 name change every 2 months. Check it out by using the left navigation bar in the CP and clicking on "Request a New Username." THE FAVORITE SMILIES FEATURE So, you have few smilies that you love using, but you don't remember the bbcode to use them, nor do you feel like opening a new window to find them? Easy; go to your User CP and find the Favorite Smilies option. Through that, you can choose what smilies you'd like to have displayed in the smilie dropdown menu in the editor options. Also, your favorite smilies show up beneath your message in advanced mode. You can choose up to 100 of them, so have fun with it! THE REPORTING SYSTEM I've just installed a live and functioning reporting system. If you feel at any given point that someone's being out of line, a thread needs to be moved, or that something's being ignored that you'd like us to draw our attention to, report it. You can report a post by clicking the yellow triangle in the upper right hand corner of the post. Our reporting system will automatically log it for us and let us know (without annoying us, which is cool) that we have a new report waiting for us. You can track the status of your report by clicking on the "Quick Links" button on the top navigation bar. We will always keep tabs on your concerns. MOBILE/CELL PHONE FUNCTIONALITY I've managed to install a function that allows FFExtreme to detect whether or not you're using a mobile device. FFE will automatically set your phone to use our mobile skin, which vastly reduces load times a hundred times over. This makes it great to FFE on the go. THE FIRST POST PREVIEW FUNCTION If you open up a forum, you'll see brand new plus signs to the left of every thread title on display. If you click on the plus sign, it will open up the first post in the thread in the same window using the marvelous AJAX technology. I don't want to spoil the experience for you, so see it for yourselves and be amazed. There are a few more features on the way, including a possible roleplaying game, a fully-functional arcade, a groups community feature, and a couple of other surprises I'll have to keep to myself. N E W D E S I G N A P P R O A C H Because I'm a very fickle person and I'm very particular about how the site looks, we are looking into a massive redesign of the forums. I've already gone ahead and made some style changes myself, as you've all been able to tell, but this is the least of what's in store. Keep your eyes peeled, everyone. These next few weeks will be exciting as we explore new things and continue expand our potential to have fun! Jay. Final Fantasy Extreme Webmaster |

Anyways, I'll get to you on MSN or so sometime. I can design, yes, but I can also code. heck, I helped revive FFE and also tweaked FFE's core system ot make it more efficient. I got some technical knowledge and yes, I have much experience with FFE ![]() I just PMed you with a preview of a possibly new User CP design. It is a design I'm currently working on for the return of my own website and its forums. I am also thinking of adding a "Quick Links" thing to ti as well. |
