Yes, you might be asking yourself "why have we gone back in time?"

The matter of the fact is that FFE was hacked this morning.

There are strong suggestions over who it was, however that topic is not up for public discussion. Moreover, it's not up for private discussion with myself - gossiping about this recent mishap won't do much to take FFE forwards and the details aren't important.

Just keep posting, and any threads any of you have created... feel free to re-create them.

Special thanks to Lethe and Jaime for reacting and quickly, effectively and enthusiastically as they did.

A couple questions, if you don't mind:

Did our post counts go back, also? I never had paid to much attention to mine, seeing as how I knew it was so few, so I have no idea whether mine dropped or not. I assume it has.

Will the members that registered after the date the forum went back to have to re-register? This one is just curiousity on my part. I figure this'll be a pretty big turn-off for all of them.

Yes. Any posts that were made from about a week and a half ago were lost, so your post count would reflect that.

BTW Guys, I've experienced a similar incident before. If you're lucky, Google might have cached of whatever you are after. Type in the keywords ([abc] ffextreme), then click "cached" (next to the green link) to see what things were like. If presenting the find here, be sure to link to the address provided within the cache (top of the page, white) - if you link from the address bar of your browser, your IP is likely to be displayed.

thank god it's back.. I can't believe that this had happened.. One min it was fine and the next... I was banned... I couldn't get anything and when I went unregistered.. all I saw was a hacked system.... Unfortunately.. I couldn't get Mikel's or Ralph's e-mail.. I couldn't do squat...

Lol i have lost about 70 posts, about 2 biographies i made, a ten page essay on the world i created in the world forums, an entire rpb ( edited: its ok now thanks to aki) and myn and robs last post in my roleplay.

PLus a load of kick ass comments, not bloody happy lol.

I got on a proxy so I could try to explore the site, but even the proxy wasn't allowed. I thought I was majorly screwed out of the forums because I kept getting by the word filters or something. xD

I didn't do much, but I helped around the ACP just a bit. =p

On a note of Off Topic, yourself and Lethe need to get MSN so you can be contacted when these things happen. I imagine that since the forums were down, if either of you checked up on the site you were a great deal confused and had no clue what was happening.

I don't know. Until I see pics, it didn't happen. For all we know, Hydro or someone else pulled this stunt to solidify their position in some sort of Orwellian power grab.

tho i agree to keep this " E travesty" on the DL, i would like to know whos responcible for these hackings. So i can IP his address and beat the crap out of him! We havnt had new gaming news in weeks cause of this >.<

Read Mechanoma's and Mikel's posts, man. The forums were basically sent back in time to a week and a half ago, give or take a few days/hours. Everything that was setup like it was a week and a half ago, is how things are now.

Also, as Hydro stated... we all have our suspicions of who it was, it isn't really important.

Let's just clear a few things up. We weren't "hacked" I was mistaken in what actually happened.

Regardless of the method, the forum got messed up. Boo-hoo. We've got the database ack to how it used to be, albeit two weeks ago -.-.

I don't fully understand what you mean by "downing the posts".. if you're referring to the post count, it's like that because the database bacckup that was uploaded was two weeks old. Thus, any posts made since the 21st august have gone.

Ralph and myself have found a way, using google's cache, to view the "lost" posts. Things like the posts in RP and Jamie's lengthy post will be saved, in addition i can forward any thread-starters to the necessary people.

Moreover, I don't think I need to solidify any position. Ralph has told me what needs doing; the members and myself are acting together to get things done.
