Default Moderation

Those of you who have visited the home page of FFExtreme should have seen that we are currently recruiting for more moderators.

The decision has been made to change the way moderating is done, here, at FFExtreme.

In the past a group of moderators were assigned to moderate the whole forum. However, we will be assigning certain area's of the forum to certain moderators.

The Super-Moderators role is to oversee everything that the moderators do (and don't do ) They are responsible for, primarily, our members and their well-fare. Secondly, they can cover any moderating duties left un-attended (for whatever reason) by our moderators.

Currently, we have one super moderator - Akira Avelon.
As it stands, we are not looking to recruit any more Super Moderators. However, the time will come when it is necessary.

At the moment, we have two moderators (Jamie and Lethe).
As Jamie is ever active and interested in the RP section, that is his designated place of moderation.

I am yet to speak with Lethe about which section he will be moderating.

As for the rest of you, it would be ideal for suitable candidates to be most active in the place they wish to moderate. It is not necessary, but a general interest in the place they moderate (where applicable) would help.

Any requests to join our growing staff team are to be sent to me via PM.

Please make your request as best as you can as I would like to move things forward quite quickly and efficiently.

Thanks,

Hydro.

I post and help everywhere, though. :/
Well...except the RP section.

And now you're gonna see some faces pop up all of a sudden, posting to be moderators.

I don't think this was a good idea...

Hydro, there are some pro's to not being assigned to a particular section. Spam, anyone? Not only that, but Super Moderators already have powers the mods don't. There has been many a time when people have "wished" they were a mod in a certain section because there is something in that area which needs tending to.
I call an age requirement, too. Over 18s. I know wisdom/maturity doesn't necessarily come with age but it's extra certification and...somewhat insurance that the past won't repeat itself. It may also help if you were on a different part of the world, i.e (what I'll call) "the 3 GMTs" - UK/EUR, US, AUS. That way we may "alternate shifts". Stay active too, do not be easily-led into things, make a worthy contribution (you could be reviewed), and abide by the rules accordingly. Oh and GSOH.

I can think of a couple of people who would be suitable. We don't need that many anyway, just those who have a clue of how a good forum is supposed to be managed. So that doesn't mean because you have X-amount of posts that you should be granted a staff position - it's by your attitude, judgement and previous record on FFE.

I agree, Lethe. I know that some people are just going to want the position for the position's sake. As we did with yourself and Jamie, discussions will be held, names will be put forward and taken away. Selecting a moderator is no simple decision, and I'm sure that the staff can come to sensible decisions.

As far as I'm concerened we don't need a moderator for EVERY forum and subforum.
I'm hoping to recruit a couple more moderators and split the forum between you all - meaning, that you'll all have two or three sections to moderate.

But isn't there people who have had experience in being a moderator or in taking care of a website like this qualified to an extent? Not saying that people who never had the experience of a position never could get the chance, but I'm just saying for those who do.

I mean King Hydro is asking people so I thought it was favored to everyone in the forums, regardless of how long they've been here or not. But then again, the position becomes in question if the person who is asking for a moderating position just recently signed up, then I could agree.

I don't really agree with the age limit thing. I prefer to judge someone by the way they post instead of their age. I think that 16 and up would be suitable unless you guys have some unsavory content in the staff forum. ;D

Being given a staff position often comes about because the person has shown good levels of maturity, responsibility, and judgement. These are qualities that aren't often apparent in under 16's anyway - that's not to say there aren't exceptions.

Things are going a little slower with this situation at the moment, Ralph hasn't been in contact for a few days. I've been busy this week, too. So just sit tight for now
