The Freudian Slip
|
Recently, I’ve been getting some really upsetting messages on my myspace. The messages are about my sex life ( which doesn’t exist ) and my past relationship. All these messages are an attempt to hurt me and they’re doing it.
They went from you’re a whore, to you’re an ugly whore, but now they’re telling me to commit suicide. My ex and I are really upset by this. Due to the extreme details in the messages. It has to be someone from our circle of friends. I don’t know how to go about finding this person. Any suggestions?

First off, I recommend blocking all messages from non-friends on MySpace until this tides over.
Unfortunately I don't think MySpace has anything like the LJ Abuse Team, but hearing about this makes me feel like checking out more to see what you can do. I suspect they'll have IPs logged and they might be able to track down who it is through that manner, but that's if there's even anyone there to give a **** in the first place. edit: yeah, under "Contact MySpace" at the bottom of pages, they have a "Report Abuse" option. I'm not entirely sure what you'd want to put as the variety of abuse, though. |

The problem with disabling my non-friends thing is that I use my myspace for my job too. A lot of people I've worked for contact me on myspace. So, I can't do that.
I'm afraid that they will eventually find out that my ex is the first person in my top eight. I don't want them messaging him.

Oh, fux.
![]() In case you missed it in my previous post: Under "Contact MySpace" at the bottom of pages, they have a "Report Abuse" option. I'm not entirely sure what you'd want to put as the variety of abuse, though. I guess "Cyberbullying," although they could come up with a less poofterish name for it (like harassment) |

I do that, but they just delete their profile. Which sucks for me, because I've banned them on their old profile and now they make a new one.
I know now that they're calling themselves the characters from Pulp Fiction.

You'll be more likely to get a response by asking if the IP matches to other MySpace accounts than by asking what the IP address is, tbh.
Anyway, you can always look at the profiles of people who send you messages and see if they seem like they're people who would be likely to message you about business stuff. Getting over a breakup is hard enough as it is and you don't need some jerkoff abusing you with made-up horse**** over the intarwebs and making things worse. |
