Is there going to be a Final Fantasy XII Piano Collections soundtrack? And if so, when? Because it has been a while since its release, and I haven't heard anything of it yet.

Not sure, but I assume they're going to make one. Probably pretty soon. IDK, I've never looked for it. It may already be out, and you just can't find it.

Don't count on finding it here for one. I give you a 97% chance that it's already out.

I've looked, and it doesn't seem to exist yet. Maybe they are making it now as we speak, but the game has already been out for a year or two, maybe three, I've lost track of time.

Well, whether or not it is or is not out, I highly would not expect it to appear on this site. Seeing as the state it's been in, you should even think of getting your hopes up of finding it here.

So far there hasn't really been any work on a Final Fantasy XII Piano Collection. They've made a book that has been called by my local Japanese/English bookshop "Final Fantasy XII ~ Symphonic Hope ~ Piano Collection Sheets", it is possibly official meaning that a Piano Collection is on the way... but from having the main composer of the Final Fantasy XII Soundtrack come to Sydney for a musical event and having him perform some piano versions instead of full orchestrations it may be on the way in the future as the majority of the staff have been busy working on the other games... mainly the Fabula Nova Crystallis series.

The reason of that is that Masashi Hamauzu tends to be the pianist for the Piano Collection recordings and he's currently working on one of the FNC/FFXIII series soundtracks so some soundtrack releases have actually been delayed due to this.

these things take time.. and it really depends on the composer of whether he wants to do it.. or how fast he wants to do it.. i think..

FFXI is only getting its official Piano Collections release this coming June.. and its been 6 years...
remember too, that FFVIIs piano collections only came around the time before Advent Children was released... so the window period for it to happen is extremely large...

I don' know. I don't think a Final Fantasy XII piano collection would be necessary. The music for the most part sucked; with the exception of the music in the opening and the ending that was fully orchestrated and stuff.

You never encountered that piece of music that just really hit you in the heart, like you did in other FFs. It wouldn't be worth it to buy the piano collections.

music is a subjective thing.. and whilst i didnt like XIIs music all that much compared to others.. i know many who loved it immensely..

Hitoshi Sakimoto's style is more ambient (he seems to love trumpets too) and he did overuse arpeggios in the OST but for what its worth it suited the game well. Some tracks are really memorable for me.. like Time for a Rest, theme of the Empire, Bhujerba and many dungeon themes.. a piano collections disc would interest me cos I'd like to see how they transition into piano and what arrangements are done to them

The ending theme isn't all orchestra, it's got a solo as well, not a very good one compared to the others, but there still is one.

And I do have to agree with Spira that a piano collection for FFXII would be pretty interesting to listen to regardless of how good or bad it is.

come to think of it, a piano collections with Kiss Me Goodbye piano on it would be worth getting for me straight away loved that song

Well no official one yet, but it should be planned.

But in the meantime, there's a pretty good fan-arranged one which features a LARGE amount of tracks from XII (majority of which did not appear in the Final Fantasy XII Piano Collection Sheet Music Book).
