Default Terra, world of progress

Terra, a world that has its countless stories to go with its rich history. The landscape of Terra is vast with many different regions.

Locations: Terra's regions are divided up as such:

The southwest: Hansen forest. A great forest sprawling out of the southwest, it is rumored that the Yggdrasil resides hidden within the great forest. Residents of the forest include elves, frontiermen and creatures that choose to remain hidden within the wood.

Notable locations:

Larief City. A great city built entirely in a single giant oak. Elves and Men make this their home and despite its location, it is a very welcoming place to visitors who wish to take part in the festival of new life which occurs each spring.

The Yggdrasil Tree. The fabled tree of life, which hasn't been seen by any sentient creature since the early ages of history. Legend has it that if one were to eat the fruit from this tree, they will be granted with immortality. However adventurers should beware that if one were to eat fruit from the tree that has not ripened, they will meet a quick and painful death. It is also rumored that medicines or tea made from the leaves of the Yggdrasil can cure any disease and rejuvenate the body. Many have spent their whole lives looking for this fabled tree, and only a handful have ever seen it.

The Southeast: The Marshlands, the air hear is stagnant as disease and insects roam freely. It is rumored that its many bogs are haunted by the settlers of this area, their restless souls forever trying to flee the marshlands but forever trapped within the bogs that had pulled them under so long ago.

Notable locations:

Galen Town. A large town built ontop of one of the Marshlands largest bogs. The entire town sits upon slowly rotting stilts. Visitors should steer clear from this area as most of the town is considered a lepper colony. But Terra's diseased, wretches, gangsters, assassins and general lawless call Galen Town home.

Halenfier Castle. Ages ago, Halenfier was a beacon of hope in the marshlands. The noble lord, Reis Halenfier had settled their in hopes to turn the marshlands into a prosperous kingdom. However as time passed he became paranoid, fearing that the many plagues that inhabited the marshlands would make their way into his kingdom. He soon closed off his castle and refused service for everyone. Soon the plague came to his kingdom and many succumbed to it, including lord Reis' infant heir. The loss of his son drove the lord mad and he eventually murdered his whole family in order to protect them from the horrors of the plague. To this day, it is rumored that their restless spirits roam the castle's halls. And on quiet moonless nights, one can hear an infant's cry coming from the castle.

Mureg Bog. The largest bog in the marshlands and once of it most haunted. Mureg was one of the first places that settlers had came to in hopes of turning the bog into farmland. Yet a never ending cycle of plague and the area being invaded by bog raiders has left the area to become a watery mass grave.

The Coastal West: The western coastline has been the central location for Terra's fishing industry, countless fishing villages have sprung up along its coastline. But with fishing and merchant vessels traveling along its coast also mean that the area has a major problem dealing with piracy.

notable locations:

Port Yano. Yano is noted for having a rich history from starting up as a small fishing village with only a dozen residents to becoming the area's largest port town. Dozens of ships travel in and out of Yano's docks while supplies are always loaded and unloaded from the ships. Sailors and work can be found around the inns and taverns both near the docks and in Yano's city walls. Yet be careful roaming the docks at night as drunken sailors looking for a fight and prowlers skulking about the alleys would not give it a second thought causing some form of harm to either you or your wallet. Because of its size and location, Yano has been the site of many famous battles throughout the wars on Terra.

Gully Rock. Several miles off the coast, south of Yano, lies Gully Rock. It is rumored to be a hide out for the areas' Pirates and Rouges. Legend tells of a lost sailor trying to find his way home crashed his ship into Gully Rock during a storm. It is rumored that on nights when the fog rolls in, one can see the sailor's ghostly vessel coming out within the fog, trying to make port.

The Western hills: The rolling plains of western hills has been the center of Terra's agriculture. Farming villages and merchant towns dot the western hills and many settlers have found it prosperous. Yet where one finds prosperity, another finds only hardship as others have been unable to turn their fields into habitable areas and have instead turned to raiding the farming villages for food.

Notable Locations:

Clarith City. Nestled between Yano and the central cities. Clarith has become a focal point in Terra's trade industry. As supplies from Yano are brought in almost every day, some are bought and then resold for a profit in Clareth while others continue to make their way to the central kingdom. The local lord of Clarith has found it wise to hire the local raiding tribes and train them to become a mercenary army to protect Clarith from the outer raiding tribes.

Outland Villages: Tent villages that dot the outer regions of the West lands. The homes of the raiding tribes that reside on the edge of the area. When the tribes decide it's the right time to move on with migration of wild beasts or fear of other tribes, they merely back up these nomadic villages and move on.

Hallow Hill. Ages ago, the cave that has been dug into this hill was once home to a great Dragon. Now hermits, giant insects and raiders make this cave their home.

Central Kingdom:This area is not within the center of Terra but also the center of its civilization. As the Kingdom of Arumin resides here. The area is also the center of the growing religion of Terra, the Order of the Wise One.

notable locations:

Kingdom of Arumin. The great fortified kingdom is the bustling center of economy, the arts, study and religion. The great Castle of Arumin resides within the center point of the city, next to it is the Cathedral of the Wise One. Hundreds Attend the quarterly masses each day and Thousands of people crowed the streets when the Arbiter of the Wise one stands from the Church's balcony and makes his yearly proclamation. It is rumored that money and political ties were behind the selection of the new Arbiter, as he is a distant relation to the king.

The Hinterlands: North of the central kingdom resides the mountainous hinterlands. Home to mainly barbarians, hermits and nomads, not many travel to the hinterlands as its mountainous terrain is not the most hospitable of places

notable locations:

Renmol: One of the more civilized towns. Renmol has been a rest stop for travelers and for daredevils wishing to challenge the peaks of the Hinterlands.

Dunmar Mountain. The tallest mountain on Terra, it is rumoured to be the home of a great ice giant. It is also where the wise one ascended in the order's religion. Many adventurers travel to Dunmar in hopes to climb up to its top but only a few ever return.

The Ash Lands: East of the central kingdom and north of the marshlands resides the most inhospitable and utterly uninhabitable area on Terra, the Ash Lands. The active volcano, Black-Top belches out clouds of toxic gas and lava continuously reshapes the land. Surrounded by a ring of mountains that prevent almost any entry into the area, the only unchanging thing within the Ash Lands has been the driving fear of all the peoples of Terra. The Obelisk. It should be known that some view Mythologies view the Ash Lands as a holy site, the lava that escapes from Black-Top continually changes the add new lands and cracks within the old land cause chunks to fall back into the magma which then come out of the valcano and form new land. Yet the general view on Terra is that The Ash Lands are Hell on Terra.

notable locations:

Black-Top. An ancient and highly volatile volcano. Trapped within a cycle of producing lava that forms new lands as the old land crumbles into the magma to be brought up again to form new land. The toxic clouds produced by the volcano aid in the area to be uninhabitable.

The Great Gate. Though Not actually a gate, but rather the only gap between the ring of mountains that surround the Ash Lands, it serves as the only way for one to theoretically get into the Ash Lands. Yet none dare enter. For a forever shrieking wind filled with toxic gas resides at the great gate. Corpses of foolish adventures and dare devils dot the entrance to the gate, unable to make it past the shrieking wind.

The Obelisk. There is no history book that can date the construction of the dark tower or who ordered its construction. For most, the Obelisk has always been there, driving a spike of fear within the people. On a clear night, both Black Top and the Obelisk can be viewed from as far as the western lands. In the Order of the Wise One. The Obelisk is viewed as the home of the enemies of the Wise One, the Ancient Ones. On most nights the obelisk is dark, yet on some nights, a single light can be seen from its top. Many view the light that appears as an omen for terrible things to come.

History:

Mythos era: The world is formed by The One. It is a dark and uninhabitable area. The only landmass at the time is Black-Top.

Yes, it is. The above post is just junk. Hopefully Garland will find it soon. Maybe we should PM him?

huh? and no this isn't FFIX. it's a totally different place, this rp has and was closed a long time ago and this member doesn't even come here anymore. I used to be the RP mod and know for a fact that all RP's in these sections are closed and no longer ongoing. Please don't post in old threads and bump them. Original owners are no longer here.

I wasn't referring to your post as junk. There was an adbot and Garland deleted it. This also explains Terra's "huh?"

We realize that most old members aren't here anymore, but that hasn't prevented a few members from trying to revive some older threads so the newer members can discuss in them. This one obviously didn't have much potential; an adbot report, and nothing more.

I see the RP notice now, but my comments regarding IX were an afterthought. This Terra wouldn't be a bad place to RP in, now that I look at it. Whatever. Sorry for disturbing your slumber.

Avelon thought that we were spamming this thread, but we were just pointing out the adbot so Garland could delete it. It's all good now, but I think he/she wants us to stop posting in this thread because it is dead. Let's respect that now that our duties are fulfilled and leave this one alone.
